Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 Will Come Out Within Three Weeks of Each Other

EA not concerned that launching them so closely will affect sales.

We already knew Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 were coming out in the same year, but now we've learned more about how closely to one another they will arrive.

Speaking today at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2016 Global Technology Conference, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said Titanfall 2 will come out around three weeks from when Battlefield 1 debuts, though he didn't say if it would be before or after, according to DualShockers.

Battlefield 1 arrives on October 21, which means Titanfall 2 will come out sometime between September 30 and November 11.

Also during the call, Jorgensen reiterated that EA is not worried that launching two FPS games so close to one another will hurt either game's sales. They cater to different types of shooter players, giving EA broad coverage of the FPS space, he said.

Jorgensen also said EA is "not uncomfortable" launching its shooter games against Activision's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

For more on both games, check out all of GameSpot's previous coverage at these links: Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2.

Also during the call today, Jorgensen said there was "some debate" internally at EA about Battlefield 1's World War 1 setting.

One of those 2 games will get delayed until Q1 201 7, it's only a matter of time. EA is kidding itself with these release dates.

I'm still playing BF4 and really enjoyed the 1st Titanfall .. so I will grab both !! Cheers !!

Loved Titanfall, I hope this one adds a bit more content as I felt the game got stale a lot quicker than say Halo 5.

Avatar image for edwardnygma

Meh Titanfall 1 was incredibly boring. Maybe the single player will add to it but I'll wait for reviews.

Avatar image for p1p3dream

Is this even safe? What effect will this have on the planet? Have they done the proper studies? It sounds serious.

Avatar image for SchNerdy

So in my case personally they're wrong. I'm grabbing Titanfall 2 and gonna wait to play Battlefield 1 when it comes to EA Access.

This year is turning out to be pretty awesome. Uncharted, Quantum Break, Battlefield, Overwatch, Doom, Titanfall 2, Deus Ex, Final Fantasy 15....damn.

Avatar image for deactivated-5ae060efb3bf6

@iammcgruber: Forgot Total War Warhammer. And we are only at the 1/2 way point.

Avatar image for darth_rambo71

Battlefield 1 all the way!

I may buy T2 just for the campaign. Beat it 1st week, play a bit of multiplayer, then trade it in.....unless the multiplayer rocks!

Titanfall 2 first so we can have something to play while the teething period of bf1 servers get worked out in a couple months.

That wise ?

BF 1 looks great but I'm not a fan of WWI era weapons so that makes me apprehensive. I'm excited for Titanfall 2 and its SP campaign so I'll pick that up first and probably rent BF 1. I've always got BF 4 if I'm jonesin' for a more realistic military shooter.

Avatar image for hystavito

@skrilla99: Don't worry they will stretch the reality of WW1 weapons to hilarious extremes. It will play similar to BF3/4.

I feel like I got burned by both bf4 and titanfall the last go around.

From what I've read below, Titan Fall 2 will have single player, sweet! I love mecha fights! What made me lose interest in Titan Fall was that it was online-only (or maybe it had a "Training" mode for offline, but that was about it from what I've heard so far). I don't hate online-only games (they're MMOs, after all), but not everyone has the same darn schedule in life! That, and server maintenances. And since they will get sequels, I wonder for how long they will be supported, so I don't want to buy an online-only game, only for it to be obscured by a sequel.

Avatar image for stewart24

@kaminobenimizu: not once have I had (okay there was one time for like 30 minutes) an issue with TF servers being down for maintenance or whatnot and I have over 30 days played in the game.

Avatar image for kaminobenimizu

@stewart24: They barely had any problems? Darn, their servers must be rock solid (or maybe the games I hear about are just weird with theirs)!

Avatar image for flames325

I will be picking both of them up day one plus Gears of War 4 oh damn it's gonna be another great holiday on the XOne

Avatar image for kaminobenimizu

@flames325: Darn, that wallet gotta hurt! 0_0 Have fun though.

Avatar image for johnnyboy787

So Titanfall 2 and CoD IW for me this year.

Avatar image for k9kal85

@johnnyboy787: I think that's the route I am going as well.

Avatar image for kaminobenimizu

@johnnyboy787: The normal edition, or the Legacy edition with MW?

Avatar image for johnnyboy787

@kaminobenimizu: The one that comes with CoD IW with season pass and CoD 4. (99$ on live and PSN)

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

Good thing I couldn't care less about either of them.

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@7tizz: lol do you even know who plays these games?

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@7tizz: Wow, that is some real desperation I hear in your voice. Clearly since I don't like mediocre bro shooters I must not play any multiplayer games.

Avatar image for edwardnygma

@7tizz: Multiplayer is the most repetitious and boring aspect. Oh man can't wait to play against 12 year olds in the same maps over and over again!

Avatar image for edwardnygma

@flames325: I can say loser. It is spelled F L A M E S 3 2 5

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@flames325: That bad argument only works if I had said I didn't care about news about the games.

Avatar image for BabeNewelll

@flames325: Yet you cared enough to post a comment to tell everyone that doesn't care if you don't give a damn .Can you say irony ?

Avatar image for NoahRoalson

I'm more interested in Titanfall 2 than Battlefield 1. Battlefield has really overstayed its welcome whereas I think Titanfall 2 could learn a lot from the initial game and potentially be one of the best shooters in a while.

Avatar image for apeapecraft

@Mogan:But unlike Titanfall's community, Renegade's community lived on for over a decade.

Avatar image for mogan

@apeapecraft: Unlike Renegade, Titanfall was good.

Avatar image for xenomorphalien

One's a future game and one's a WWI game.

Eh, I'll get both anyway.

Avatar image for Reagan2791

Fall is a great and horrible time for gamers. So many games launch with not enough time to play them all meaningfully.

Avatar image for rosinmonkekyx17

@Reagan2791: But...It's near Black Friday, I'll be waiting for Black Friday, only a short time, and get my BF1 50% off

Avatar image for bobafetthatesu

Whether one or the other sees prolonged success or not, they will both limp along for plenty of time with the added DLC, free XP weekends, free maps and all the standard bribery that comes along with online shooters for months to follow. It's not like other online shooters haven't launched within weeks of other online shooters. It's how the industry operates anyways.

Avatar image for rosinmonkekyx17

RIP Titanfall...

Why would you ever launch near BF1

Avatar image for flames325

@rosinmonkekyx17: Two complete different games i will be picking up both and the last Titanfall sold around 7 million so it will do just fine.Hell i still enjoy Titanfall on my XOne it was the shooter we needed that's for sure it was different than whats out there

Avatar image for rosinmonkekyx17

@flames325: It might do so fine this time :P

BF1 might steal away the attention

Avatar image for boerew0rs

It actually sold over 10 million copies! I know, I couldn't believe it either. I hope Titanfall 2 will give CoD a run for its money and shows it how futuristic shooters are done. Everything about the first TF was so much better than what CoD has done the last 5 years or so and now people with a PS4 get to enjoy it as well. Overwatch aside, cause I'm still not sure I'm comfortable calling that a FPS, Titanfall is the best first person shooter I've played since CounterStrike got me hooked somewhere in the early 2000s and I just want others to experience the traversal, the way it manages to make everyone feel important and most of all: the Titans! Cause even after all those hours, I still get an adrenaline boost when entering my Titan.

Avatar image for ZamboniGamer

@rosinmonkekyx17: Agree! This doesn't make any sense. Plus you have Gears 4 coming out 10/11.

Avatar image for philip6k

@ZamboniGamer: to reach quarter obviously

Avatar image for alaannn

titanfall doesnt look interesting to me maybe it will have single player this time so it might be good, theres alot of sci fi shooters coming out battlefront/titanfall/the new cod a few more modern/vietnam warfare settings would be good

Avatar image for skemaal

@alaannn: there will be a single player campaign in Titanfall 2

Avatar image for R4gn4r0k

Both games look interesting to me. But if they are in such a short time frame from one another. I think I'll go with Battlefield.
