Gearbox Software made a number of announcements about Battleborn today, spanning the next DLC character, information on new maps, and details about new Broadcaster tools.

Starting with the new character, Pendles will be available on July 28 at 9 AM PT for people who own the Battleborn season pass. On August 4, he'll be available to unlock using 47,500 credits.

Pendles is a "snake-like assassin" who wields two kamas. "Pendles enjoys sneaking up on his opponents, then poisoning and eviscerating his prey before they know what killed them," Gearbox said. He is Battlefront's second of five free DLC characters; the next one, the game's 28th overall, will be revealed on July 28, Gearbox said.

As for the new Competitive Multiplayer maps, these include Monuments, Outskirts, and Snowblind, which are playable for the Incursion, Meltdown, and Capture modes. You can see images from all the maps in the gallery below, while in-depth breakdowns of each can be found on the Battleborn website. These maps come to Battleborn in its next update, though specific timing was not announced.

The third big Battleborn announcement today is about new Broadcaster tools. "These tools will provide new viewpoints for audiences with options such as focusing on pre-set locations, follow-cams and more," Gearbox said. You can get a full rundown of the tools in this blog post.

In other news about Battleborn, you can get the PC version (and a bunch of other games) for only $15 in a new Humble Bundle.

GameSpot's Battleborn review scored the game a 7/10.

"The combat is frantic and tense, but often feels samey and superficial," critic Scott Butterworth said. "The in-match leveling works wonderfully in the campaign, but can become problematic in multiplayer. The varied cast of heroes adds longevity, but the game still feels relatively content light. With so many moving parts that never quite gel, I found plenty of things to love but just as much to feel confused by and ambivalent about.
