Yahoo Movies sat down with stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, and Jesse Eisenberg, along with director Zack Snyder, asking them to weigh in on the middling reception.

Cavill said he cares more about what fans think than critics.

"The interesting thing is we get the critics who have their personal opinions--and the thing about personal opinions is they always come from a place," he said. "And there is a pre-conceived idea which you have to get past as a critic before you start writing your article or your review, and that affects everything.

"What is going to really matter, I believe, is what the audience says," he added. "They are the ones buying tickets; they are the ones who want to see more of this kind of story--or not. The audience's voice is loudest and after this weekend, the audience will at least partly have spoken."

Asked to give his take immediately after Cavill's, Affleck replied, "I agree."

For his part, Snyder said he didn't know how to make Batman v Superman in any other way and stay true to his original intent. "I'm a comic book guy and I made the movie as much as I could on that aesthetic," he said. "And so, I don't know how else to do it 100 percent. So it is what it is."

Adams said the response from fans so far has been "really positive," something she is encouraged by. She said the movie was made for the fans, not critics. "If you're interested in a film you should see it and form your own opinion rather than just going on the word of somebody [else]," she said.

Gadot praised the job Snyder did in bringing together Batman and Superman for a large-scale action movie. "He nailed it," she said. Eisenberg said he finds it "distracting and unnerving" to read reviews, adding that he doesn't even watch his own movies.
