Batman V Superman Director Reveals His Next Project And It Is Very Different

Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder has revealed his next project, and it may not be what you expect. He apparently said on Vero recently that his next effort will be an adaptation of objectivist writer Ayn Rand's acclaimed novel The Fountainhead.

Snyder, who also directed the movies 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Justice League, shared no further details. But The Fountainhead has been in his mind for a while now. In 2016, he told The Hollywood Reporter (via Polygon) that he sees The Fountainhead the novel as "such a thesis on the creative process and what it is to create something."

He added that his frequent partner Warner Bros. owns the script, and that he's been "working on that a little bit."

Originally published in 1943, The Fountainhead focuses on an architect named Howard Roark whose innovative architectural ideas clash with those of his tradition-bound colleagues. The book, which alongside Atlas Shrugged is one of Rand's best-known works, was already adapted into a movie--back in 1949. Oscar winner Gary Cooper starred in the film, and Rand wrote the screenplay.

Oliver Stone was at one point reportedly interested in making a Fountainhead movie, and Brad Pitt was apparently eyed for the role of Roark. In Hollywood, nothing is certain, and of course this never happened. It sounds like early days for Snyder's Fountainhead, too.

Rand's Atlas Shrugged was adapted into a three-part film series, but the movies were critical and commercial disappointments.
