Gary Lake-Schall, the VP of game technology at Warner Bros Interactive, wrote on Steam that "there are some known issues with the performance of Batman: Arkham Knight for PC owners using AMD graphics cards."

He added: "We are working closely with AMD to rectify these issues as quickly as possible and will provide updates here as they become available. We thank you for your patience in this matter."

Following the publication of this message, AMD has released numerous driver updates in a bid to help resolve the glitches. Nvidia has done the same, though it should be noted only those using AMD cards have found problems.

Technical discussions on the games forum NeoGAF offer some unofficial workarounds to various problems, including means to lift the 30-frames-per-second cap.

Batman: Arkham Knight shipped across North America and Europe on June 23.

GameSpot's Batman: Arkham Knight review was praiseworthy overall, but aired many reservations.

So Warner Bros. abondoned PC program, right ? If they really wanted to fix the FPS problem - and a lot more - in PC they would have a while ago, right ? I'm really upset that they got their eyes in consoles and not in PC, f*ck piracy, f*ck that it's easier to make a console game than a PC ! If you gonna make a sh*t game for PC, then make exclusive for console ! Look at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, I think they laugh very loud when heard about the problems of Batman, a game that "could beat" The Witcher in GOTY is broken in numerous ways !

I'm not going to buy a PS4 or a X1 just because of Batman ! And I don't even have money to buy a PS4 or X1 !(so if you're going to say "Buy another games too", sorry) That's why I gather money to buy these games on Steam and Origin but that's another story.

Well, I just said my opinion here... I not going to say what I think about Warner and Rocksteady now, just that they fell in my concept about games. Hope they fix the PC version in less than 6 months.

P.S: I know The Witcher 3 isn't perfect but didn't have this bullshit that Batman had in launch.

@marrows: The piracy argument is particularly outdated these days, what with Steam sales, Green Man Gaming, GOG, etc. to mitigate piracy.

@marrows: It's not easier to make a console game than PC. The console version is the whole reason the game was delayed for so long, and the reason the game runs like shit on PC.

Gross, per-game driver shims are not an elegant way to fix things and may only mask the true issues that lurk deep in the game's code...

@gameholic: It's not always. Most games are pretty problem free and run better on pc even. It's Ubisoft, Warner Bros and Tecmo that are the big anti pc douchebags. If you hire an iOS dev of 12 people to port a game on a scale like this it's bound to get bad results.

The same people ported MKX aswell so those results should raise flags at WB not to use them again. Batman arkham asylum and city were ported by rocksteady themselves and they were very good ports.

It is the notion that pc is an open platforms with normally unrefundable digital sales. So if the port is bad they get their money anyway and they don't have to pay damages to sony or xbox (publishers have to pay to patch on consoles while it is free on pc). So after the fact they can judge how much they are willing to spend to fix things on pc with no punishment. And alot of time pc gamers themselves fix and patch games for them wich costs them nothing. On console you can always refund a physical game to a retailer (and most console sales are physical).

Arkham Origin was also a bad port and it took them 6 months to fix the major bugs, but it still have alot of bugs to this day but they don't care to fix it because they were working on dlc instead at the time and have since moved on.

This time however the port was unusally bad and steam and alot of other distribution sites have implemented a refund system wich charge the publisher. PC gamers now have means to get their money back just like console gamers would have. So not only do WB loose the money for the game sale they also get an extra charge for the transaction hence why they pulled the game alltogether because they were not only loosing face but alot of money.

It is especially alarming and bad if they knew about the issues months before and did nothing.

Hopefully this will be an end for halfassed ports from greedy publishers who shelve out crap and then "fix it later", since now pc gamers can do something about it.

@gameholic: the simple answer is.

all xboxs and ps have the same hardware, and makes it very "easy" to make it run as well as it can.

Pc's have (random number) 34095834 combinations of hardware/operating systems you have to make the port work on.

thats the simple answer.

@Etagloc: Unfortunately that answer isn't accurate. Hardware configurations isn't a significant issue. They have driver standards, operating systems, etc. to mitigate differences in configurations.

@Arsyad00:

Wait, one problem and suddenly that counts as consoles versions being better than PC? If we're being fair, the PC versions are not only better, but capable of running better on a $350 PC. If you don't believe me, look up the Potato Masher on Youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZR-a35sxLg

By and large, most games ran better on it (settings and resolution) than the PS4.

With that said, I have no problem with consoles. They're usually very simple to set up and get into. That just doesn't mean a person couldn't go with PC gaming.

@Arsyad00: Better how?..

Today it would be easy to make grafix that couldn't even run on those systems.

On the graphical side they are holding back the development of games.

But those games would never sell, because only an elite few would be able to afford systems even on PC that would be able to run it.

A good PC will always be more powerful than a console. With just mild knowledge of PC's they can do anything a console can.

Hook up a controller, easy.

Hook up to TV, easy.

Its much harder to make a game run on PC's because of the possible combination of system configurations there are.

If done right a game would always be better on PC

If not, they shouldn't even sell it.

So I can't believe that for such a huge game like this that they would release it knowing it was this glitchy. I've personally not played the game yet (I'm poor) but you'd think they would frickin test it before releasing the game. I mean, how BIG is this game production-wise, and they didn't try it on several types and designs of computers before releasing it? How did they not know these things were going to be issues?

Wait wait, so you mean that WB, the guys shrugged and said "Not fixing game breaking/crashing bugs, working on DLC" during the last Batman game is now having issues with another Batman game?! Get right outta here, you must be joking. Figured the WB equiv of "Deal with it" from last game would at least keep people from pre-ordering. Yes yes, it's Rocksteady, everyone loves those guys. Unfortunately they make business deals with dogshit publishers.

No way to treat gamers. On the flip side, the Steam Refund Policy is phenomenal. I hope it makes it's way to all online stores incl PSN and XBL. Gives the power to the Gamers.

It's the only way to fix the state of gaming we are in... half-baked and broken releases, and nonsense exploitative DLC.

@Mr_BillGates: WB mangement conversation:

"Wow we got a lot of praise and good will for ME:SoM, last year. How can we squander that?"

"Well our next two big games on PC are MKX and B:AK, we could order progressively worse ports and go crazy with the dlc"

"Perfect. Golden idea. Slap a ribbon on it ladies and gentlemen it's done. This is why we make the big bucks. go home to your families people there's nothing you need to do here."
