Batman: Arkham Knight PC Patch Notes Include "Heavier Rain," December DLC Support

A new patch for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight has been released, delivering a range of fixes and improvements, as well as compatibility support for the game's December DLC.

December's Arkham Knight DLC takes the form of Batmobile and Batman skins based on 2008's The Dark Knight.

As for the fixes, the patch restores "heavier rain" during the game's opening section (apparently this was removed earlier) and clears out problems related to equipped gadgets and keyboard and mouse controls for some areas.

The full patch notes were posted this week on the game's Steam page and are available below.

Batman: Arkham Knight PC Patch Notes:

  • Fixed some issues with stars being awarded or lost incorrectly in specific AR Challenges
  • Improved target prioritization during combat
  • Restored heavier rain during the opening section of the game
  • Fixed missing rain effects on a few remaining player character skins
  • Miscellaneous gameplay fixes and stability improvements
  • Fixes to some keyboard and mouse prompts after being rebound
  • Made frame times more consistent for 60hz monitors running at 30 FPS with V-Sync enabled
  • Previously equipped gadgets can be selected with keyboard and mouse again after restarting an AR Challenge
  • Fixed the default key binding for Harley's Snare gadget
  • Batgirl's Remote Hacking Device can now be properly selected with keyboard & mouse in AR Challenges
  • Minor performance optimizations for certain combinations of hardware
  • Fixed keyboard & mouse controls that did not function in DLC AR Challenges when no previous save data existed
  • Quick Photo Mode can now be triggered with keyboard and mouse controls when using the Batmobile
  • Special Combo Takedowns can now be performed with Quickfire Gadget binds if they were rebound
  • Fixed graphical corruption that may occur after Alt-Tabbing
  • Improvements and corrections to some localized text
  • Added new Classic Harley Quinn skin for use in AR Challenges & the Harley Quinn Story Pack
  • Added Arkham Knight as a playable character for AR Challenges & the Red Hood Story Pack
  • Added support for December DLC content

@berserker66666: LMFAO I remember that in Heavy Rain! It got annoying fast but was just too damn funny to not play around with. Whenever I play the game in that scene, I like to spam the Call Jason button for the hell of it!

@Spartan_418: I gave up on waiting for SLI support & started playing a few days ago. I've put a few hours in & haven't encountered any major bugs yet. Performance actually seems to be pretty good, I get solid 60fps at 1920X1200 on a GTX970.

@Spartan_418: I didn't bother with it and got the ps4 version simply because i also have a ps4. I don't think I'd buy a ps4 for it though.
Note though, I played it back in it's release window so I have no idea how the pc version runs now. It was completely unplayable for me back then.

@Spartan_418: You can get the entire deluxe bundle from cd keys for $20 and it's worth it. Todays version of the game is as good any other PC title. Just don't expect sli support, that's broken for good.

and now after the patches I can play the game with everything ultra except for disabling (interactive smoke/fog) and (interactive paper debris)

note: I always stick to 30 fps but if I disabled fps limiter I would get about 45 fps with the graphics settings mentioned above

@Spartan_418: Get the PS4 version if your PC is not very powerful. Get the PC version if you have a powerful PC (like an i5, GTX 970, 16GB RAM)

@Wiro_: Stupid. The game would run better on a potato than on a PS4. I have both versions, and the PC version is where it should have been from the get go. Took forever, but it's there now.

@Spartan_418: I have the same specs except my CPU is older than yours (i5 2500k) and my RAM is clocked at a higher speed (1300mhz), the game runs perfectly fine from my experience, 1080p at 60fps with everything on high and gameworks turned off, just be sure to keep your GPU at its clock speed, overclocking it tends to make things worse, from a technical perspective I'd recommend the game, its much more stable than it was at launch and I believe WB is still patching the game up and will most probably continue to do so for a while, however as for the game itself imo is not worth its current price tag for what it has to offer, the season pass is mostly made up of AR challengers and super short dlc stories, I say wait for the complete edition of the game to reduce to $40 or so (by then it will probably be far better optimized)

@callmejoe2: well that gtx 960 can get you 30fps for certain (since its only 2gb I wouldn't count on 60fps) I'm however not certain about your cpu, I have only seen benchmarks using Intel cpus and different combinations of GPU (amd gpus tend to have it worse and afaik still isn't performing very well, but you have an nvidia gpu so you are on the safe side), theoretically you should be able to get above console level experience since I believe the game is more gpu bound than cpu, don't take my word for it though, I suggest you Google arkham knight performance with and fx-6300 and gtx 960 and see what you can get, but I can say for certain that you should get 30fps gaming experience, and like I said wb is still patching up the game so who knows it could get better, if you want to get the game I suggest you go to places like g2a or cdkey and pick it up for a massive discount, I wouldn't recommend picking up the game at its current full price anyway (even if it was well optimised, the game is currently quite a rip off)

@Dark_sageX: Thanks for what you could figure out, finding out how well this game runs has been kinda hard since it's optimization has been rather shit. I really hope that it's up to console level since PC is my only means of playing eight-generations games.

@callmejoe2: Well as long as you cap the fps at 30fps and set everything on low then you will have your console experience, but still it is a shame, the GTX 960 is a more capable GPU (even if you only have the 2GB model), if the game was actually as well optimized as the past Batman Games you would have gotten better results, but yeah WB fucked up big time, I wouldn't call the game unplayable, 30fps is a perfectly playable state, the issue is that its not ACCEPTABLE, with a GTX 960 you should be getting consistent 40fps with everything maxed out (otherwise you are not getting your money's worth...) but they are still patching the game and people have been reporting improved performances (minor improvements but improvements none the less) so I'm pretty optimistic that it will get better, perhaps once the season pass has cleared out they will direct more attention to fixing the game?

but if you are dying to play the game and don't mind 30fps then I say go get it, but do not pay full price for this game, there are websites you can go to to get it at a massive discount, I recommend g2a.

@Dark_sageX: Luckily I'm one of those gamers who can still tolerate things like 720p or 30fps. Hopefully they'll get everything in order in the near future.

I knew this game would still be overpriced by now ; I'm surprised they're still charging this at full price instead of like $30 dollars since it still isn't as optimized as possible. That's why I wanted to wait until the winter sale, but if it's cheaper on other sites then, that's where I'm going. It's a real shame at what happened since the pc ports of every other Arkham game were easily the best versions.

@fedor: He doesn't need more RAM, 8GB is enough (though he should up the clock speed, 800 mhz is a little slow, atleast put it to 1000 mhz)

@Spartan_418: It's not really that bad at this point, I never experienced to worst of it personally, but the PC version is still the inferior version in this case, I'd just get it on console, I wouldn't support the PC release even after all the patches... but I did get the game free so I'll play through it eventually.

(if you can get it real cheap on PC though, I don't see a problem depending on your PC specs!)

Oh man I forgot all about this game. I stopped playing when I got to the part where they forced you to play through a driving sequence. Due to the car's MISERABLE handling (IMO, worst-controllable vehicle I've ever played in my 30+ years gaming), I gave up. There was just no entertainment value left in the game when I'd crash/die 50x in a row because I abhor driving/racing in all forms. Don't think I'll ever complete the game. I would have never guessed the legacy Rocksteady made with this series would have petered out in such an unimpressive manner.

@aegis_kleais: Can't get all the handling criticizing at all. Personally I expected it to be a lot worse after all the reviews. I think that batmobile is quite maneuverable considering it's weight, haven't had any problem with it personally, and that sequence when you seamlessly propel to a flight like from a catapult is uber cool and never get's old! Altough, I think that amount of tank battles is just ridiculous, they should've toned them down, as it's single biggest flaw of the entire game, IMHO.

Nice, noticed a few improvements in some places, the game may have tarnished its reputation but that doesn't WB can't fix the game, keep it up the game is running much much better on my end, 60fps at 1080p with everything maxed out currently (still not touching gameworks though and never will, thats nvidias responsibility) I can honestly say anyone with a GTX 970 or equivalent GPU shouldn't hesitate to get the game based on its condition (in terms of content though imo game and season pass is a overpriced, grab the game on steam sale)

I'm about 80% through the game though that's misleading because now I need to spend countless hours trying to do all the riddles which is the opposite of fun. That said the biggest issues I've run into is stuttering during car chases and entering/exiting the Batmobile which in severe cases has crashed the game about a half dozen times including 1 blue screen. To be fair, I'm playing on max settings and all things considered it plays pretty good.
