The latest project from veteran comic book writer Marv Wolfman is an official novelization of Rocksteady Studios' upcoming action game, Batman: Arkham Knight, which launches later this year.

Wolfman announced the news on Facebook, saying he's relieved to finally be able to talk about the project, which he kept a secret even from his dog. He may have been joking about that.

"Well, I can finally tell folk what I've been working on these past months in total secrecy, even from my dog," Wolfman said. "I wrote the official novelization for Arkham Knight, based on the upcoming video game, and had a ball doing it."

"The story is highly emotional and I'm exceedingly happy with the results," he added. "Both game and book come out in July. I'll post the cover here once it's official. Anyway, whew, it feels great finally being able to talk about it. My dog is happy, too. I no longer have to keep throwing her out of my office while I'm working."

You may have noticed that Wolfman says Arkham Knight the game will be released in July, even though it's officially confirmed to launch in June. Has the game been delayed? No, it hasn't, a Warner Bros. representative confirmed with GameSpot this afternoon. The game remains on schedule to debut in June.

Wolfman didn't provide any further details about his Arkham Knight novelization. The game takes place after the events of Arkham City, and tells the story of Batman facing off against Scarecrow and a mysterious enemy named the Arkham Knight.

A veteran comic book writer, Wolfman has previously penned DC Universe and Marvel stories. He has also created more characters that have been adapted into movies, TV, and animation than any other comics writer with the exception of Stan Lee, he writes on his website.

Originally intended to be released in 2014, Batman Arkham Knight's release date has been delayed again, this time to June 23. The game is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
