The animated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke releases later this month, but if you can't wait until then, you can check out a small clip featuring the comic book's opening scene.

The clip was revealed by DC Entertainment on its YouTube channel. It features Batman walking through Arkham Asylum, on his way to have a little conversation with the Joker. If you've read the comic, you know what happens next--I won't spoil it for the rest of you. Check it out for yourself in the video below.

You can see how the scene ends when Batman: The Killing Joke releases July 26 on Digital HD. Those who want a physical copy will have to wait until August 2 when the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack hits stores. If you were hoping to watch it with children, you might want to rethink that: The Killing Joke has been rated R, which is likely due to the subject matter and disturbing scenes present in the original comic.

Voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill return as Batman and the Joker, respectively--they've played the iconic characters in many television, movie, and video game adaptations over the years. You can hear them both in The Killing Joke's first trailer here.
