Avengers: Infinity War -- Where Was That Guardians Of The Galaxy Character?
He didn't mean to do a mutiny.
Avengers: Infinity War is a who's who of just about every major and minor character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but one breakout character from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was missing-in-action. Director James Gunn explained the absence in response to some fan queries. Spoilers for Infinity War follow.
Kraglin, the trusty first-mate of the Ravagers, ended Guardians 2 as an ally of the heroes and helped in the climactic battle. It seemed likely he'd stick around, but he's nowhere to be found in Infinity War when the Guardians show up. The part is played by director James Gunn's brother, Sean Gunn, and fans have been asking about the fate of the hapless space pirate. James Gunn answered:
Kraglin is still around - don’t worry! He has important stuff to do and all will be eventually revealed (thus has been my top question of the day btw so I’m glad to see you’re keeping him in your hearts!) https://t.co/n8X6UC7PaR— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) May 1, 2018
In a separate answer, Gunn seemed to confirm that Kraglin is still alive following Infinity War, but that he didn't want to "spoil all the surprises." That means one way or another, we're likely to see him again in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. James Gunn also pointed out that his brother does a lot of the motion capture for Rocket Raccoon, so even though Sean Gunn appears in the credits for Infinity War, that's not a hidden signal for a Kraglin Easter egg.
Poor Kraglin certainly wasn't the only character missing from Marvel's all-hands-on-deck epic, so take a look at who else missed out on the action. Plus, read about what's changed for the Guardians in the four-year gap between their last adventure and the events of Infinity War.
