Aussie WOW: Cataclysm beta spots open
Five Australian guilds to get exclusive access to upcoming MMORPG expansion.
Titles released under the Blizzard banner are few and far between, with the company proudly sticking to its mantra of "we'll ship it when it's done." Although that stance sometimes infuriates the gaming community, the company's approach to games development has paid off, with its last two titles both having an average Metacritic score of over 90. The release date for Blizzard's second game for 2010--World of Warcraft: Cataclysm--is just around the corner, and the megapublisher has just announced a special competition for Aussie players to get early access to the anticipated expansion.
Starting from tomorrow, Blizzard will be accepting entries from Australian guild masters showing off a screenshot of their greatest achievement. If chosen, the winning guilds will then be given 10 passes into the coveted World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta. The contest runs over five weeks, with one clan being picked per week. The only caveat is that you can submit only one screenshot for the entire competition, so you'd better make it a good one!
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is the third expansion pack for World of Warcraft, which adds in a variety of new content to the game, including two new playable races (goblins and worgens), and raises the level cap from 80 to 85. At this time, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm hasn't been dated, so stay tuned to GameSpot AU for any news updates.
