World records: everyone has thought about breaking one. Unfortunately for most people, when push comes to shove it's a lot easier to entertain the thought than it is to actually pull it off. Not for 17-year-old Aussie Michael Puterflam, who has decided it's time to step up and take on the world record for the longest consecutive time playing a football video game.

Puterflam's weapon of choice is FIFA Soccer 11, and he'll kick-start his record attempt at Bondi Junction Westfield in Sydney, on Wednesday, December 1, from 12 p.m. He plans to play for 29 hours straight, ending his marathon gaming session at 5 p.m. on December 2.

Puterflam won't just be playing solo; if you're keen to head on down and check out how he's doing, you can make a small donation to one of three charities and take him on in a game of FIFA Soccer 11. The money raised will be split between three charities: Football United, the Sony Foundation Children's Holiday Camps, and the Holdsworth Community Centre.

If you're keen to head along and support Puterflam, check out the details below:
Where: Level 6, Bondi Junction Westfield
When: 12 p.m. Wednesday (1 December) - 5 p.m. Thursday (2 December)
