At Gamescom overnight, Sony announced immediate price drops for its PlayStation 3. GameSpot AU has now confirmed that the cuts will also apply to Australian users, with the 60GB PS3 dropping to A$349.95 and the 320GB model dropping to A$449.95.

Unlike other regions, the Aussie price drop won't take effect immediately. The new prices for PlayStation 3s won't kick in until August 22. Currently, the 160GB model retails for A$499, while the 320GB model sells for A$599.

Sony Computer Entertainment Australia also confirmed that the new PSP model--the PSP E1000--is headed Down Under. The new model--which has no Wi-Fi capability--will retail for A$139.95 and be in Aussie stores in November 2011.

In other hardware news, the PlayStation-branded 3D TV that was announced back at E3 earlier this year has been given a A$699.95 price tag and is due to arrive in Spring 2011. The bundle comes with a 26-inch TV, a copy of MotorStorm: Apocalypse, a HDMI cable, and a pair of 3D glasses.
