AU Shippin' Out November 30-December 4: Avatar, The Saboteur

Game tie-in to upcoming James Cameron film debuts down under; EA's open-world shooter sneaks onto store shelves.

This Thursday, Ubisoft is releasing its latest movie tie-in game, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game. Set on the fictional planet of Pandora, the game acts as a prequel for Cameron's film and will take place from the perspectives of both the Na'vi (the planet's indigenous population) and the RDA (the corporation that is responsible for mining and military operations on Pandora). Like the film, the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 versions of the game take advantage of stereoscopic 3D, but you'll need to have a special TV that supports it. James Cameron's Avatar: The Game is due out this week in stores around Australia for the PS3, 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

Next up is The Saboteur from the recently shuttered Pandemic Studios. Set in Paris during the Nazi occupation in World War II, the game tells the story of racecar driver Shaun Devlin, a man who is out for blood and vengeance after his friend is murdered. One interesting feature of the game is its film-noir-like presentation. The world starts off in black and white except for the red in swastikas and on Nazi armbands, but as you rid each area of its German occupiers, colour will slowly return to the world. Keep an eye out for The Saboteur when it’s released on Thursday for the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.
