The tale of Captain Price and Soap McTavish continues this week, with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The first Modern Warfare game changed the landscape of first-person shooters, and with Battlefield 3 grabbing a lot of people's attention, the pressure is on Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games to deliver a game that's worthy of the Call of Duty name.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 picks up after the events of Modern Warfare 2, where Russia continues her invasion of the United States of America and the rest of the globe. Over on the multiplayer front, the formula has undergone numerous changes, including the addition of weapons levelling, the division of point streak rewards, and, of course, the implementation of Call of Duty: Elite.

Call of Duty: Elite is the tracking service that Activision is marketing to players as a service that will track your statistics and help you develop new tactics. Going for A$64.99/4,000 Microsoft points, your Call of Duty: Elite subscription will also entitle you to all of the ongoing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC for free. If you're a little bit uncertain about what Call of Duty: Elite is all about, be sure to check out our previous coverage of the service.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 isn't the only big game to be released this week. It will be competing for consumers' attention against a little role-playing game called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The game is set in a fantasy world, and you jump into a land in disarray where the return of dragons is threatening to end everything. As with previous games in The Elder Scrolls series, a lot of attention has been put into crafting a living world, complete with side quests and unique factions.

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are the main headline-grabbers this week, other games worthy of a mention include L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition for the PC and Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 for the Wii.
