As the games industry kicks into recovery mode after the madness of E3 2011, the influx of new releases shows no sign of slowing down. This means no one has to suffer from boredom while waiting for more information on all the great titles announced at this year's show.

Leading the pack this week is Ubisoft's Child of Eden, a game often described as a "multisensory shooter." Child of Eden uses the motion-sensing capabilities of Microsoft's Kinect system and the PlayStation Move (coming later this year) to allow players to aim and shoot with the flick of the wrist, navigating a kaleidoscopic landscape of trippy visuals and electronica beats.

Rest assured, some semblance of a story presents itself soon enough. In a futuristic version of the Internet known as Eden, a mission to reproduce a human personality that can access the archives of all human memories goes awry. The archive is invaded by an unknown virus just as Project Lumi, the virtual manifestation of peace and hope in the world, is nearing completion. Players are tasked with jumping inside Eden and purifying it from the hostile virus that threatens to kill Lumi.

Sounds simple enough, right? Because this is essentially a shooter, the majority of a player's actions will revolve around targeting virus compounds of varying sizes and strengths and eliminating them as they progress through Eden's levels. The game is out this Thursday for the Xbox 360, with the PlayStation 3 Move version slated for release later this year.

Alice is back, wielding a knife.

On a less trippy note (but not by much), American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns sees our heroine 10 years after the original game, trying--and failing--to deal with her nightmares of the fatal fire that killed her family. The game sees Alice travel back and forth between a gloomy London and a predictably crazy Wonderland where she makes use of a few new abilities and weapons to save the residents from a whole cast of new characters (most of which, let's face it, are extremely evil).

Finally this week, if multisensory experiences and talking to Cheshire cats aren't your cup of tea, you can always fire up Dungeon Siege III from Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment, a fast-paced role-playing game that blends a large array of abilities with a whole lot of action. The game is out this Thursday on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
