AU Shippin' Out February 9-12: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

Creepy little girls and violent animals hit retail shelves this week.

Despite a relatively slow start to February, this week shows improvement in the Aussie game release schedule--a precursor of what's to come over the following weeks of February.

The main attraction this week is Warner Bros.' F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. Ignoring the alternate storyline of F.E.A.R. Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, Project Origin tells the story of Delta Force operator Sgt Beckett. While on a mission to arrest the president of Armacham (the evil company of the first game), Beckett gets caught up in the destruction of Auburn and is hospitalised against his will. In the hospital, thanks to surgery, he gets connected to the game's tiny antagonist, a girl called Alma. Along with the single-player campaign, Monolith has included a fairly meaty online multiplayer component, though there's no word on whether we'll see a F.E.A.R. Combat 2 come out. Expect to need a change of underwear when the game comes out on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 around Australia this Thursday.

The other notable releases this week include Square Enix's Star Ocean: Second Evolution for the PSP and Deadly Creatures for the Wii.
