Almost three months since its initial release in North America, Sony's popular timed exclusive, Unreal Tournament 3 for the PlayStation 3, is making its way down under. Unlike the current trend toward simulation shooters, such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Unreal Tournament 3 delivers high-speed, ultraviolent action that the franchise has become famous for. Players can choose from a variety of modes, including deathmatch, team deathmatch, 1v1, capture the flag with and without vehicles, and warfare. All of these modes can be played offline with bots, but it’s the 16-player online combat where the game really shines. One feature that is new to console owners, but familiar to PC players, is the ability to create and install mods. For those unfamiliar with the concept of modding, user-created mods allow you to alter the game, so you can create new skins, weapons, and levels. By using a separate conversion tool, gamers can then convert mods that are designed for the PC to work on the PlayStation 3. Unreal Tournament 3 comes out around Australia this Thursday.

Wii owners will be pleased to hear that Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is coming out this week. Zack and Wiki are the newest members in the "Sea Rabbids" gang and aspire to be the greatest pirates to set sail. While out exploring the ocean, they are attacked and end up stranded on an island. Zack quickly discovers hidden treasure, which turns out to be the golden skull belonging to the legendary pirate Barbaros. Barbaros offers to give Zack one wish providing that he finds the missing pieces of the pirate's body and puts him back together. The game takes players back to the origins of adventure gaming by using a point-and-click system reminiscent of old PC adventure games and updated to use the Wii Remote controller. Gamers looking for a good adventure game on the Wii should not overlook Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, which comes out on February 21.
