ATI's Financials

These are undoubtedly good days for Canadian ATI Technology, which continues to post good quarters.

ATI, developer of the Rage 128 chipset, announced its financials for the quarter ending May 31 this morning - and the news is good. Revenues for this quarter climbed 65 percent over last year's US$182.8 million to top out at $302 million. Net income also jumped 35 percent to $35.9 million from last year's $26.5 million.

ATI president and CEO KY Ho attributes ATI's continued success to the company's segmentation strategy: ATI's video chipsets can be found in the large majority of desktop and mobile PCs - from low-end value computers, to more dollar-intensive gaming machines. "ATI's third quarter results prove the Company's product diversification strategy, building from our core graphics and multimedia competencies, has been successful,'' elaborates Ho. "Our established success in desktop graphics is extending into the mobile segment, and we have already put in place many of the building blocks needed to be a leader in emerging markets, such as set-top boxes and consumer computing appliances.''

ATI looks to continue its success into the next quarter with the rumored release of a 143MHz Rage 128 video card tentatively called the Rage 128 Pro and mobile variations of its desktop Rage 128.
