Atari is set to build eight company-branded hotels across the US, with the first launching later this year in Phoenix, Arizona. These hotels are said to "combin[e] the iconic brand with a one-of-a-kind video game-themed destination," according to a press release.

Atari Hotels are allegedly "level[ing] up hotel entertainment" by featuring augmented and virtual reality experiences for every age throughout each of the planned. Some hotels will include "state-of-the-art venues and studios" for esports events, but Atari didn't specify which ones.

Atari also didn't specify when the first hotel will get constructed, only offering the vague "later this year" window. After the first hotel is built in Phoenix, more will be erected in Austin, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Denver, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Francisco and San Jose, California; and Seattle, Washington.

A producer of the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, Napoleon Smith III, is assisting with hotel design and development. Smith also served as a producer on the TMNT reboot sequel, 2016's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

"When creating this brand-new hotel concept, we knew that Atari would be the perfect way to give guests the 'nostalgic and retro meets modern' look and feel we were going for," Smith said in the press release. "Let's face it, how cool will it be to stay inside an Atari?!"
