With the news of Red Ant's financial troubles leaving most in doubt of the company's ability to continue to operate, Atari Australia has stepped in and re-signed with Konami to continue to distribute its titles down under.

While no time frame has been given as to how long the two companies will continue to work together, a press release distributed by Atari has said that "Atari will continue to distribute Konami titles in Australia and New Zealand for the immediate future."

Atari and Konami originally parted ways last November, with the later signing up with Red Ant to distribute the company's titles. While Red Ant technically held the Konami contract for Australia, it wasn't due to come in effect until later on in March when Atari completed its contractual obligations by distributing Silent Hill: Homecoming and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots platinum.

While there's still no word on what's going to happen to Midway, Capcom has issued a statement confirming that despite Red Ant's ailing financial situation, Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will all make their original Australian street dates. Capcom also stated that Neo Pets: Puzzle Adventure and MotoGP will be released in line with other PAL territories. It's unclear what will happen beyond those titles.
