A Ubisoft developer has confirmed that the studio's upcoming RPG epic, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, won't be "the longest or biggest game in the series."

Malek Teffaha, head of communications at Ubisoft Middle East, replied to an article about the size of AC Valhalla. In his response, Teffaha said that Ubisoft has listened to criticisms about the length of previous entries in the long-running franchise and is "working on" rectifying it. It's worth noting that the conversation is in Arabic.

Now Playing: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Gameplay Trailer | Inside Xbox

For context, 2017's Assassin's Creed Origins took anywhere from 30 to 82 hours to complete, according to game length tracker How Long To Beat. Its follow up, 2018's Assassin's Creed Odyssey, took even longer to finish, coming in at about 40 to 125 hours in length. No AC title has come close to Odyssey's length, though. The original Assassin's Creed could be beaten in about 15-31 hours, depending on how you played. Most other titles in the franchise, however, hovered around the 15- to 60-hour mark.

This comes not long after Ubisoft unveiled the first-ever gameplay trailer for AC Valhalla during today's Inside Xbox livestream. It didn't show much in the way of gameplay or exploration, but it did highlight key locales players will pillage when the game drops on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X this holiday season. AC Valhalla is also one of the confirmed titles to use Microsoft's Smart Delivery Service, which allows you to upgrade to the best possible version of the game for free on the Xbox platform.
