Assassin's Creed Unity Preorder Bonuses

Ubisoft's free-running game has four retailer-exclusive preorder items and a Collector's Edition.

The wealth of preorder bonuses and special editions for big games can get pretty convoluted, and Assassin's Creed Unity is no exception. Often, games will have different offers for each different retailer, and three or four different editions. If you're like me, you can end up feeling left out if you didn't know about a certain bonus. This year, developer Ubisoft has created four different retailer-exclusive versions of Assassin's Creed Unity, and each contains a unique weapon that cannot be acquired elsewhere (at least at launch). There will also be a Collector's Edition that contains a number of real-world and in-game items.

All preordered copies, regardless of retailer, also come with a code for a real-world spin-to-win sweepstakes game. Every day, Ubisoft is giving away prizes as big as games, clothes, and even trips to Paris and Ubisoft Montreal.

Each preorder also comes with an in-game mission called "The Chemical Revolution." Not much is known about the mission except that it includes "a genius chemist, a secret formula, and a plot for revenge."

We've outlined all four preorder items and the retailers' descriptions of them below.

RetailerGuaranteed Release Date Delivery? Preorder Bonus

"Carve through the thickest armor with ease, thanks to the armor splitter axe's relentless cleaving power."

"Bring your enemies to their knees with the razor head spear, a lethal polearm designed to penetrate the toughest armor around."

"With its pinpoint accuracy and incredible range, the maple hunting rifle is the weapon of choice for stealthy assassins who prefer to lurk in the shadows and devastate their enemies at long range."

You can also purchase the Collector's Edition for $130. It includes a 16-inch figure of protagonist Arno, a music box that plays Unity's theme, a copy of the official soundtrack, an art book, a collector's edition box, and the Killed by Science and The Chemical Revolution missions. You can read more about all that it includes here.

Of course, these bonuses can change before the game's release. Assassin's Creed Unity launches on October 28 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Do you like preorder bonuses and special editions? Do you think that preorder bonuses should be as complex as those for Watch Dogs, or eliminated altogether? Let us know in the comments below.

You have to wonder whether the Dev's think this is a good idea for marketing or to get people to offer their game, Or is it the store's offering more money to buy special items for their respective stores to get more sales from their stores (which would explain why Wal-Mart and BestBuy have the best weps).

Excited! But something tells me that this will get delayed too.. hmm

The collector edition looks pretty cool, but i not want to fall for that.

Avatar image for crusaderprophet

is the Bastille edition available only in UK and not US? because i really liked that case they are offering.

..this game could be more fun if they just smarten up the AI ..just a little more. Make some of the soldiers uber smart..give us a challenge.

Avatar image for toadface123

Is this the first you are seeing of this game, because from what ive seen and heard they have changed the combat system so there is no counter or combo kills. Resulting in a harder combat system.

Also the fact that they have brought the city to life and all the AI react to their surroundings, will create a better experience for the player.

Avatar image for skopas

@toadface123 ..i played Black Flag a few months ago. At first it was fun then the soldiers became so predictable, it was like stealing candy from a baby. I thought to myself if they can keep us players in suspense of how the other soldiers react it would be better, funner exp. Say even if the soldiers were marked red, green or blue for kill strength. So yeah, hoping Unity will have the difference. I really think that's what makes a game enjoyable that its not a simple knock off.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I would like the combat to be more fluid like in Uncharted 3. not sure if it is possible to make that way with swords and bombs.

Avatar image for skopas

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> ,,I dont have a PS4 so I wouldn't know. But it looks like a fun game.

Avatar image for guitarguy30

<< LINK REMOVED >> They said they did, no more enemies forming in a circle around you. It was in the IGN making of ac unity series.

Avatar image for skopas

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> ... kool then, that should make the game more interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm usually a GameStop person but I got to admit I'm liking that pioneer axe.

Either way, it doesn't matter because I'm not pre-ordering another Assassin's Creed game again. The one and only time I did was with Revelations (I was coming off the AC: Brotherhood high, my decision making skills were compromised) and I didn't even get through the third mission of that mess.

And I'll be honest I hate their whole excuse about it would take too much work to make a woman character for their co-op. Even if it did take more time to do it, what I've notice no one is barely mentioning is that if they just stopped making Assassin's Creed games annuallythen they would have the time to make a woman choice for multiplayer.

No thank you, I'll play Unity when I can get it dirt-cheap in 2015 when the next Assassin's Creed comes out.

Avatar image for toadface123

Totaly agree with you, people also forget to mention assassins creed liberations where you play as a woman anyways. Its complete BS

Avatar image for archav3n

Ubisoft gonna get at least 10M copies sales again. Thanks to hungry console gamers :)

Avatar image for josh20100

<< LINK REMOVED >> Steam bundle looks better anyways. You get cloths and a rapier.

Avatar image for Shango4

Should I get Shadow of Mordor or AC Unity for my PS4?

Avatar image for josh20100

<< LINK REMOVED >> If you have to choose then choose based on whether you want a great single player game, or a multiplayer game. AC Unity is going off the drop in drop out multiplayer gimmick that Brink had so expect it to be tailored to encourage you to try multiplayer. For all we know, People could come in and out of your game at will or its just certain missions that you que up for with online players. Mordor hasnt mentioned a multiplayer mode as far as I know, but the story looks like it'll be really deep and engaging. Not to mention the rich lore that comes from the LOTR Franchise.

Avatar image for The-Neon-Seal

I'll be too busy having fun on Shadow of Mordor -and Alien-, picking my next target -unless a rival of his takes him out first, or he befalls an unforseen accident...

Yea, with all this garbage I think I'll just pick it up a few months after release. Used, if possible. Either release all the content in one package or don't do anything. This is embarrassing.

Avatar image for TheWatcher000

What's even more embarrassing is how far too many of the people in the comments are m.asturbating themselves into a frenzy over the opportunity to fall for yet more marketing BS.

I miss the $80 collector editions lol. I got ACII with Ezio figurine for that price.

Who the heck preorders a AAA game these days before seeing reviews? Are people still foolish enough to do that?

Avatar image for mymomma69

personally i pre ordered for the extra mission

so i dont care that each store offers a different weapon and I dont see why these reviews are impacting the game

Avatar image for Sw33tEscape

<< LINK REMOVED >> People who intend to play the game no matter what. Gosh, why is that so hard to understand?

Avatar image for meatz666

<< LINK REMOVED >> Couldn't wait? The extra missions will be available, I'm pretty sure

Avatar image for mymomma69

i might as well get it free with the preorder rather than buying it for 5.99 in february

Avatar image for burnettaj

<< LINK REMOVED >> I do like the maple hunting rifle, but it will be more than likely available for DLC once the game is released.

Avatar image for lrdfancypants

I figured they'd cave to pressure and the preorder bonus would be a free woman.

Avatar image for daikkenaurora12

<< LINK REMOVED >> women are never free

Avatar image for LJNkickstarter

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Some do if you prefer ugly,

Avatar image for ArchoNils2

I really hate how far this has come. Just offer a normal edition and a "special" edition with some exclusive stuff. Just two editions, one for collectors, one for the others and no more. No stupid exclusive content that only some can get by buying at a specific store that does not exist outsite this country

Avatar image for razor_rj

<< LINK REMOVED >> i wouldnt mind exclusive content, if it was all available in a collector edition, i mean i care about collecting items for the game not from the game, i dont care about a printed pirate map, a jukeboss,

Avatar image for VakarianGirl

<< LINK REMOVED >> Oh who CARES?! You're going to be paying full price for the freaking thing anyways if you want it at launch - why not choose your freebie?

Avatar image for RevLux

<< LINK REMOVED >> Don't worry. I'm sure you will be able to buy the free content at a later date... /raise eyebrow

Avatar image for dani_i89

How about you include the digital content in the standard editions, include all of the weapons and just leave the physical collectors items as part of the collectors edition? The whole 'buy the collectors missions and weapons to truly enjoy the game, unlike the peasants who buy the standard edition' ideology had really watered down my interest in Assassins Creed.

Take note Ubisoft: CDPR are doing the collectors edition right - no cheap, useless game add-ons as well as a wealth of material for the collector. The standard edition alone is quite generous.

Avatar image for uninspiredcup

If it's seedy, Ubisoft is on the case.

Avatar image for jemoedr

I think when you buy a special pre-order you should get all DLC for free. Especially when it's the $130,- edition...

I've bought the most expensive versions of Assassins Creed Revelations (animus edition) and Assassins Creed 3 (Freedom Edition).

I was satisfied of those, but never bought any additional DLC. You buy these as a fan, and get some nice stuff, but it does feel like a stab in the back when they then bring out some rediculous DLC they ask $10 for.

Avatar image for DN3D1997

@jemoedr Same here.Didn't get AC IV Black Chest only because Connor figure was very strip-on-a-pole-stupid-looking.Never bought any DLC because it's a dumb idea at first, and for the expensive ones you should get DLC's for free, not this weapon/damage/armour crap.

Avatar image for jemoedr

<< LINK REMOVED >> I was first thinking to wait until i had a ps4 before i wanted to buy AC4 (better graphics). It took a bit longer before i had the money for a PS4 so i decided to borrow AC4 from my brother.

Now i'm glad i didn't buy it. What a terrible game. The ship battles suck (and there are waaaaay to many of them), and the story sucks. I guess it is the first AC i am not going to buy.

Two-disk steelbook. Game & soundtack/ concept art.

Instruction booklet.

One page code list for bonus content. A mission or two and an outfit. Weapons become useless in no time.

All packaged together with a nice cardboard cover that you slide the steelbook out from. Make that bundled for about $75-$80 (USD) and I'm sold.

I don't have room for those statues and gimmicks and all I really want at the end of the day is a good game to add to my collection with a nice case that looks good on the shelf.

EDIT: Instruction booklet only because it's nostalgia. I loved looking at them and reading tips on the way home. Not because I actually need instructions.

Avatar image for lrdfancypants

If you ever saw me play, instruction books coming back might not be a bad thing.

I remember one of the UO games coming with a cloth map of Britannia. That was cool. At least I think it was UO. Maybe it was pong.

Avatar image for megablast16

Rubbish! Now the Alien Isolation stuff, that's what I call a pre-order bonus.

Avatar image for The-Neon-Seal

<< LINK REMOVED >> The Nostromo edition does look pretty sweet.

Avatar image for Archangel2222

Gave up on the weapon pre orders along time ago. they sound strong and good but when you get the game and you see the weapon stats they are sooooo weak that like 90% of the ingame weapons are better than it. I pre order for the extra missions or figurine but going to give it a pass this time
