Assassin's Creed Syndicate Taps Grammy-Nominated Composer
Austin Wintory's three-hour score aims to capture the "prowess and sarcasm" of the game's two main characters.
Austin Wintory, who was nominated for a Grammy for the PlayStation game, Journey, has been announced as the composer for Ubisoft's upcoming action-adventure game, Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
Wintory said in a statement that he is personally passionate about music from the 19th century, the setting of Syndicate. "I've had a long-held passion for the chamber music of the 19th Century; the intensity one can get from this sort of music is quite distinct from the massive force of an orchestra," he said.

Wintory's orchestral score is 3-plus hours and features solo performances by instrumentalists Sandy Cameron and Tina Guo. The music aims to not only capture the overall tone of the Assassin's Creed franchise, but also to "evoke the prowess and sarcasm" of Syndicate's two heroes, Jacob and Evie Frye.
Syndicate launches on October 23 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while the PC edition arrives November 19.
Wintory is a video game music veteran. His other credits include The Banner Saga, Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded, The Order: 1886, and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell.
