[UPDATE] Ubisoft has now formally announced Assassin's Creed Rogue. Below are some highlights.

  • Launching November 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3; no mention of PC was made in the announcement
  • Developed by Ubisoft Sofia in collaboration with Ubisoft offices in Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan, and Bucharest
  • Set in the middle of the 18th century during the Seven Years' War
  • Players can explore various locations in North America, including the North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley, and New York
  • You play as a Templar named Shay Patrick Cormac
  • Completes the Assassin's Creed North American saga that began with Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

The original story is below.

The rumors were right. Today, Ubisoft officially announced Assassin's Creed Rogue, a new game in the series coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall alongside Assassin's Creed Unity, which is launching only for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You play an Assassin-turned-Templar named Shay Patrick Cormac, and you'll navigate a ship across the North Atlantic. Other locations include the Appalachian River Valley and a "reimagined" New York, according to the game's reveal announcement from Game Informer.

"Assassin's Creed Rogue is sort of the cornerstone of the Kenway trilogy," a Ubisoft designer says in Game Informer's video interview. "So Shay Patrick Cormac is an Assassin who will turn against his mentor and his brotherhood and join the Templar cause."

Assassin's Creed Rogue takes place during the Seven Years' War, and bridges the gap between Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III. Though Assassin's Creed Rogue and Assassin's Creed Unity are set on different continents, it's possible that the storylines will indeed overlap. "The Seven Years' War is part of what lead to France's financial troubles, and it's hinted that Shay has even deeper ties to Unity," Game Informer writes.

No official release date for Assassin's Creed Rogue has been announced, but a previous report suggested it is launching November 11, which is a couple weeks after Assassin's Creed Unity. It is also unclear if a PC version of Assassin's Creed Rogue is in the works. We are following up with Ubisoft for more about the game and will update this story as new information becomes available.

"Exclusive to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3" never before in my days have I heard those words before in a game trailer. However in all honesty assassins creed rogue seems like it has the much better story of the two AC games coming out, being a templar sounds like much more fun although i do hope there is little boat travel, traveling on boat become very tedious too quickly in AC4 i'd much prefer riding on a horse or running, Annnnnnnnd Altairs outfit?!?!?!? Ubisoft u have me sold, throw in a bit of Haythem cameo and I am sold, although I miss the days of when Assassin's creed announce trailers sent chills down my spine in excitement for desmonds next adventure the way AC revelations and brotherhood did but now the franchise has become something else that has nothing to do with a creed, at first it was about piece of eden and the creed, then it was about aliens and saving the world, and now its about sailing ships and random shit that neglects pretty much everything else

Imagine if the Assassins Creed team concentrated on making only one game every couple of years... I bet they would develop something pretty awesome. They need to calm down with their release schedule a bit..

<< LINK REMOVED >> The assassin's creed games get around 2-3 years of dev time each. They release one a year because Ubisoft has different teams working on each game. They aren't rushing them out they just have concurrent dev cycles.

Assassin's Creed's creed! ... UBISOFT has a factory that in side it has machines called called assassin's creed making machines similar to those of COD only faster!

WHAT! this is ridiculous, why is it coming out now and why is it coming out to inferior gaming machines?

I don't understand you

<< LINK REMOVED >> Because releasing a new AC game is like printing money. Until gamers stop buying the annual releases you can expect this to continue.

<< LINK REMOVED >> It will be out on PC . I won't be surprised if Enhanced version of it is made available on PS4 , X1 and PC , next year . Right now they won't effect sales of Assassin's Creed Unity by releasing it on current gen platforms . Simple is that .

Not being funny but why is the PS3/360 game looking so much more interesting than the PS4/X1 game.

@Armyboy5 @bezza2011 This comment shows the sad state of the gaming community.....now the "Graphics" are the prime factor for defining a "good" game and whenever someone says one game is looking much more interesting than the other, people believe its the graphics which is the main factor behind the reasoning and never once care to think about that the person might be referring to the gameplay... *sigh*

I agree too. Paris just seems so bland and arno looks like the next connor, one sided.

I think exploring the north atlantic as a complex irish templar will be much more enjoyable

Sweet lord, October and November are crammed!!! Might have to chew up my vacay time. Unfortunate that the adventure/ RPG games have been so infrequent this year.

...but Risen 3 comes out next week...I know not a lot of people play the series, but if you are into RPG's it is pretty good....sure, the frame rate issue in #1 made the game damn near unplayable, but once you get past that (note, it never gets better you just get accustomed to it), some of the elements of the game are brilliant...#2 was meh, but meh would have been welcomed so far in 2014!

They'll release the last gen version then rehash it in 'remastered' form for the new consoles and PC so they can make extra money.

Avatar image for noladem504

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I am pretty sure the templars dont have 'principles' anything like the Assassins' 'creed'. The Templars have only an endgame which is to be secured by any means necessary for the 'greater good'. They pretty much live by, "the ends justify the means".

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> My take is that he got betrayed by the assassins and started exacting his revenge for personal reasons rather than taking revenge by siding with the Templars. I think the story will reveal as to how he slowly turns towards the templar side but initially having a peronal vendetta against the assassins.

I would be mad about the annual releases, but with #4 someone smacked them across the face, and somewhere along the lines it got through that they need to do something different. It's a wait and see, and hopefully they don't fall into the clone routine again, with this time following the Blackflag formula

I'm excited for both. AC has always been a favorite of mine. Though lost interest in series due to AC 3, but ACIV: Black Flag delivered the best ship combat experience and Golden Age of Piracy period video games have ever seen.

There was a period where the Templars almost wiped out the whole brotherhood in the colonies, leaving Achilles as the last one. In 1735, Edward Kenway killed by mercenaries/Templars, so AC Rogue protagonist Shay Patrick Cormac might be one of them. His accent sounds like Northern Irish to me. AC Rogue takes place during the French and Indian war/ Seven Years' War (1754-1763), the last major conflict before the French Revolution, when Haytham came to America(beginning of AC3). So maybe we're going to meet Achilles and Haytham again. Who knows? Maybe even Connor and Edward. Ubisoft didn't explain Connor's death, I want to see how he died.
