Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag confirmed, getting exclusive PS3 content

@kbrbabzbtb @Fryboy101 @Ayzed It is a massively refined engine. They were able to change the control scheme to make combat more fluid. I see the AC series as a storytelling game. Yes there are some fun combat moments, but the reason i come to these games is because they have the best storytelling with great combat. As long as they keep telling great stories, i'll keep coming back. Even with 3, connor wasn't that great of a character, but everyone around him, including Haytham, were fleshed out and awesome characters who brought the story to life, which is why i'm excited for this game. I want more story from Haytham's bloodline, and to be able to play as his father is going to be amazing. I couldn't care less about the setting. It's about the storytelling for me

@TC_Squared @Fryboy101 @Metroidalert911 i'm the opposite, i was more intrigued in the ancestors than desmond himself. I felt the present story was tacked on more than anything. AC to me has been about playing as these past assassin's and watching them form the brotherhood all around the world, and slowly have the storylines converge to present day. It would have also added a sense of intrigue to the stories, especially with the deities talking to each character, explaining what the future holds. I just felt the future setting with desmond was a small misstep to me

@Fryboy101 @Metroidalert911 @TC_Squared That's definitely true. The story is the biggest reason I still favor AC1. When I finished AC1, my thought was "OMG. This story is so huge. Anything can happen. I can't wait to see what is revealed in AC2." But the only part that actually revealed anything new to the main saga was right after defeating the Pope. The rest of the game was almost entirely focusing on Ezio, which I felt was simply reinventing Altair's story. When I play AC1, I feel like I am controlling a Desmond ancestor. When I play AC2, I feel like I am controlling Ezio. Desmond and the main AC setting and plot feels almost nonexistent to me now. It's that aspect of the story that I was originally the most intrigued with, but have lately been disappointed with.

@TC_Squared @Fryboy101 @Metroidalert911 I think people see CoD as a strictly multiplayer game. i'm sure if they took out single player, nobody would even notice and it would still sell. AC has always been a single player game, which i believe is why so many people are invested in the story, aside from the fact that the AC story is F***ing amazing

@Metroidalert911 @Fryboy101 @TC_Squared but the thing is 3 was a success by sales numbers. I believe Black Flag will sell very well, mainly because the setting is very intriguing to most people, contrary to what this comment thread says. Also, people like me want this game for the story. I don't think people will pass up on this game when there is still so much story to be told in present day. For me, I'm excited about story involving Haytham's bloodline

@Fryboy101 @TC_Squared @Metroidalert911 Yeah, I definitely see your point. As much as I love the CoD: Modern Warfare story, especially that involving Captain Price, few fans pay much attention to it. I in fact had to look up the MW2 story...no one was talking about it. Every AC fan on the other hand talk about the story one time or another.

@Fryboy101 @TC_Squared @Metroidalert911 Do not forget that Brotherhood and Revelations were not a success for the company. I loved the other three games but this one seems like another mess.

@TC_Squared @Fryboy101 @Metroidalert911 I think i see where you're coming from. but i see cod and AC as two very different games. CoD is a very action and setpiece heavy game. AC to me, is very story driven and relies very heavily on the characters more than anything. Giving AC a separate saga could diminish the storytelling for me

@Fryboy101 @DarthLod @Superzone Even if it doesn't come out in 2013, many say that it will in Q1 2014, so that's still pretty close to AC3.
