Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag confirmed, getting exclusive PS3 content

Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag; PlayStation 3 version will get 60 minutes of exclusive content.

Ubisoft has officially confirmed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and has added that the PlayStation 3 version will contain exclusive content.

The Sony version will include 60 minutes of "exclusive" gameplay, though details about the content have yet to be revealed. Ubisoft had a similar partnership with Sony for last year's Assassin's Creed III, where PlayStation 3 owners were given four missions revolving around Benedict Arnold and the plot to overthrow West Point.

Ubisoft also released the game's box art for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC platforms, showing the game's new protagonist, rumored to be privateer Edward Kenway, grandfather of Assassin's Creed III star Connor.

Earlier this month Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will take place in a new setting and star a new protagonist.

GameSpot will reveal more information about the game on Monday at 17:00 GMT/09:00 PST.

Hope this game fails so hard so UBISOFT will go back to Prince of Persia series. i don't know why they are so obsessed with this piece of junk game. its so boring and repetitive, if they had given a good trilogy and ended, it would have been good, leaving that many DLC's and iterations has spoiled the game. brotherhood, sisterhood, manhood and keep going. AC universe is one of the most uninspired universe ever and they still want to keep expanding.

@depakjan

They're obsessed with it because they can sell 10-12 million units annually. There will be annual games with only small changes to the formula until sales are cut in half at least.

@depakjan I'm not a big PoP fan, but if I were you I'd want them to keep their focus on Assassin's. If this ever goes under there's a possibility that PoP would end up getting the same milked treatment AC has been getting.

There are nearly zero details out about it so far, and half of you already seem to be convinced it's going to suck. Just because it's a yearly installment doesn't mean there's no innovation. Seriously guys?

@GOCRAZY1 Judging from history and current trends, it's very probable that it's going to suck, yes.

@theend3r Based on what? At the very worst you can call Revelations and Brotherhood average games, and those are the ones people seem to focus most of their bile on. And don't even say Call of Duty, that's apples to oranges.

@GOCRAZY1 @Alexrmf @theend3r Ubisoft has multiple teams and AC4 has been in development for years now. This game has been in development before AC3 was even released

@Alexrmf @GOCRAZY1 @theend3r I don't know about five years, but I agree with you that they could of waited. But like I said, just hold your judgment until there's some actual news out.

@GOCRAZY1 @theend3r based on the simple fact that it's called AC4 - why can't they stop at 3 for the moment and release a new AC in 5 years, after they've done some great brainstorming and thought of great ideas to implement into a new game?

these exclusivity deals are a real plague for the gaming industry... it's not enough that we get al type of DLCs instead of a full game, now we also need to pay attention to the platform we want to play the more complete game on. game developers just became like apple... they release a revision of the same basic product every 2 years trying to get as much money as possible from the people's pockets for selling them something they don't really need, and people will just hope the new adventure will be somewhat different than the previous one

@Fryboy101 @Metroidalert911 Sorry I know but it's just annoying when they talk about a new game when it takes forever to bring a platform game. The game has been delayed so many times.

@sgt_F79 @Vozlov Yeah I realise that is the general consensus, but I really liked what they tried with double agent and conviction.

They certainly weren't perfect, but double agent at least tried something different. Whilst conviction I found to be a good start for the new mechanics as I found the old ones haven't aged particularly well. I do like the faster pace, I just hope they've reintegrated the stealth elements with black list to a decent degree. From what I've seen they seem to of done just that.

Of course they seem to of failed on the story. Why they couldn't just let Fisher rest and create a new protagonist is beyond me. Completely ass backwards imo.

Time will tell though. If we're to go by their recent products it'll be terrible. If that is the case there won't be anything of Ubisofts I ever want again.

Actually looking forward to this. While it seems pretty popular to hate AC3 I honestly saw it as mostly experimental and genuinely enjoyed it. If this game can build and refine what we got in AC3 then it should be nothing short of amazing.

The era which this game will take place is important to the story. As how in AC3 Connor rebuilt the "farm". One must wonder if that farm is where Desmond will eventually be raised. Further, Abstergo as most may know, have their hands on most every product and commodity. This game takes place during an important time or "evolution" of trade which included pirates, sea battles, and many different cultures. There's not a better time to change Abstergo's grip, than this. If you can't change the present, change the past. I'm ready.

The "farm" according to previous games is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

I really can't imagine this being very good. I've been a hardcore AC fan since the first game but nothing about this excites me. Maybe I'm just burnt out, but with AC3 essentially finishing the Desmond Arc, I would have liked a break

@Metroidalert911 @TC_Squared @Gblazer01 Unfortunately, even AC2 was somewhat predictable. The only part that revealed anything new about the overall saga was after defeating the pope. The rest of the game was almost entirely focusing on Ezio's life, as if AC saga is set in 1499, rather than the present.

@Geminon

Actually, no. Assassin's Creed sells significantly more in Europe that it does in North America, and the PS3 sells significantly more units in Europe than the 360 does. Hence the exclusive content.

I couldn't care less about console fanboyism but this is an obvious and transparent business move.

@Geminon according to VGChartz AC3 has sold 4.09 million on 360 and 4.62 million on PS3 and of all the games in the series AC2 on the PS3 is actually the top selling

so no not "just like every version before it"

if ps3 owners are dickheads for playing AC3 with its "less than average gameplay" what does that make xbox owners and their obsession with FPS games? you know the old saying people in glass houses right?
