Comments

Ubisoft will try to have the best of both racing worlds in Asphalt Urban GT, a launch title for the Nintendo DS that was announced today. Billed as combining both simulation and arcade-style racing, Asphalt Urban GT will allow players to race in licensed high-performance cars in tracks from around the world.

The game will feature more than 20 licensed cars, from manufacturers such as Audi, Hummer, Jaguar, Lamborghini, and Volkswagen. You can customize and modify your car, as there will be more than 30 different options for tuning, engine maintenance, and bodywork. There will be nine tracks in the game, based on real-world locales such as New York City and Paris.

Asphalt Urban GT will take advantage of the dual screens in the Nintendo DS by allowing players to monitor their progress on the bottom display, as well as use the bottom screen to spy on opponents and gauge opportunities. The game will also feature 3D graphics, realistic sound, and original music. There will be five gameplay modes and three camera angles, as well as a replay feature.

In terms of multiplayer, you'll be able to race with up to three other people, so there are four players maximum in a race. There will be three multiplayer modes, including a single race where all four players go head-to-head, a championship mode, and a two-player cop chase mode, where one player tries to "lock on" to the other for five seconds.

Urban Asphalt GT will debut alongside the Nintendo DS. We'll have more on this racing soon.
