Asia Shippin' Out April 10-16: Elements of War
A weather-shifting strategy game, a shiny new port of a long-awaited RPG, and two different flavors of dance games populate this week's game shelves.
With last week's sparse collection of titles, it's only fitting that this week is filled with a wide variety of game releases. First up is Elements of War, slated for release tomorrow. This strategy game's hook is giving players the ability to manipulate the forces of nature either for a tactical advantage or just to cause major havoc to the opposition. Players will get to choose from three factions with varying play styles and even take the fight online in 10 different player-versus-environment game types. Elements of War is out exclusively for the PC.
Next up is the enhanced port of Persona 2: Tsumi ("Innocent Sin" in English) for the PSP. The role-playing game puts gamers in the shoes of one Tatsuya Suou whose daily life takes a turn into the supernatural when he and his friends investigate a series of homicidal acts caused by a jester-like fiend named the Joker, who claims to have a history with Tatsuya and company from a long time ago.
While the game retains the combat system and demon-negotiating system from the original PSOne release, the new port features an improved user interface, a new soundtrack, and a new Theatre mode that lets gamers take on optional quests to procure exclusive demons and rare items. The port will be out this Thursday in its native Japanese language. An English version of the game has yet to be announced.
Finally, gamers who wish to get their groove on in the living room will get to pick between two dance games: Michael Jackson: The Experience for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and DanceDanceRevolution for the Xbox 360. Gamers will get to relive dance moves and segments performed by the King of Pop in the former, while gamers will get to use the Kinect to free-dance to a mix of licensed tracks and original Konami-made tracks for the latter. Michael Jackson: The Experience launches this Thursday, while DanceDanceRevolution will be released tomorrow.
