"We are very sorry that many of our customers continue to be unhappy with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight," the developer wrote today on the game's Steam page. "We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues."

So until the end of 2015, Warner Bros. will offer full refunds of Arkham Knight "regardless of how long you have played the product." In addition, players can get get their money back if they bought the DLC pass, but only if they return it along with the full game.

For everyone else, Warner Bros. said it plans to "continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix."

The Warner Bros. post also includes an update from Valve that says the refund process, like the game itself, is experiencing some issues.

"For users still running into playtime based refund rejections, we are looking into what is causing those. Please wait to re-submit your refund until we have this resolved. Thank you," it said.

Arkham Knight originally launched for PC alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions in June. However, the game was later pulled due to bugs and other issues. It officially returned on October 28 with a package of free games given to players in an attempt to make up for the issues.

For more on Arkham Knight, the final game in developer Rocksteady's trilogy, check out GameSpot's review.

I do feel bad for companies that have to develop on PC. PC is such a mess of different hardware manufacturers, driver setups, OS, GPU and CPU models, clock speeds, RAM configurations; what a ridiculous amount of time and effort wasted jumping through all those hoops to optimize your game for a community that's just going to pirate the game in majority anyways.

I can see more and more companies sourcing out or flat out abandoning AAA game development on PC or porting to PC. It's just not worth it.

@criticalerror: All you did is attack me personally and avoid the points I made at all costs, because if you actually tried to argue the technical aspects of this you'd be lost. So, you just call me names and hope it'll distract people from the fact that you actually have nothing useful to say in defense of your side of this. You're definitely the genius here.

@joejoe1639: This is so far from the truth, it's hilarious.

PCs are not Vizio TVs - made without standardized parts in some god forsaken sweatshop surrounded by suicide nets like Foxconn. Every Nvidia card is going to work the exact same way - driver wise. Every AMD GPU the same way. All RAM the same way. All Intels the same way, and AMDs the same way. With small differences. There are very few BIOS makers and mobo's that use the same chipset work the same way.

As for your hilarious bait sentence at the end, seriously, go die in a fire.

@ughz: Of course NVIDIA cards are going to work the same way, but NVIDIA and ATI cards and drivers all work different; dual and quad core processors work different; everyone's got their OS set up different; their GPU preferences tweaked; different clock speeds; it's nearly impossible to normalize performance for everyone.

What I'm saying is the truth, I guess most people are just too nice to say it to you and risk hurting your feelings. AAA PC development is such a ridiculous waste I'm sure most developers want out, it's just going to be such a PR hit they probably feel trapped.

@joejoe1639: What are you basing this on? Doesn't almost every game release on PC? Don't you think if it were more of an issue, there would be more than a handful of AAA exclusives between Xbone and PS4? There are less than ever before. My PS4 collects dust because its just a crippled PC that forces you to waste money on overpriced games. Everything loads incredibly slowly on its laptop hardware, even the internet is slow because of slow servers and crappy WiFi connectivity. I like it though. It has some nice features and The Last of Us Remastered was fun. But in 2015 this discussion is completely over. The fact that so many people still resent that consoles are no longer superior is absolutely amazing to me.

@RCT4ShouldExist: Consoles were superior for approximately 5 minutes - in 1995. That time is long gone buddy. Most of those games back then, PS "exclusives", released on PC as well with little difference. The problem in the 90s was that there weren't any real GPU manufacturers because the GPU was a new concept. Once the Voodoo hit the market, it was officially over. And the thing is, PC was already pumping out games with better gameplay and better technology for years at the time.

@RCT4ShouldExist: Nobody wants to be the first to "abandon" the PC gaming community; the backlash obviously is not going to be fun. However, games are getting more complex, home PC setups are getting more complex, every GPU driver release is more broken than the last... From what I've read ATI cards are struggling to run almost everything nowadays...

Rocksteady isn't an incompetent developer; even though they sourced this one out the fact that they couldn't fix the port to PC and had to tap-out and offer unconditional refunds to everyone does support what I'm saying. The fact is that most AAA titles are developed for console and ported to PC as well, which shows that the console infrastructure is just a lot easier to develop for.

@joejoe1639: Kindly stop basing your non-existent understanding of PC gaming and the related technology on AMD. Do you also base your understanding of computers in general on Apple computers?

AMD has literally never been a viable solution for gaming. It is a budget solution, nothing more. They offer comparable or sometimes better benchmarks, and prettier spec-to-dollar ratios than Nvidia does, but Nvidia has been significantly better in terms of performance and stability 95% of the time.

I've literally never had a problem over the past 15 years with any Nvidia card I've ever owned. The only "problem" I had was the time my Thermaltake SLI GPU watercooling broke and the house dumped coolant all over my second GPU. I took it out and gave it a thorough cleaning and it worked fine again after this. Of the AMD cards I've owned - a 9800 and a 5750 HD, both were underwhelming as all get out. Frequent driver issues, frequent performance issues, you name it.

@ughz AMD has gaming GPUs and high performance CPUs comparable to NVIDIA, so saying it's not a viable gaming solution is just complete ignorance. NVIDIA is currently the most stable and best performing option, but that hasn't always been the case and it only takes one botched driver release for NVIDIA to be back on the bottom. NVIDIA drivers have tons of recurring issues that have never been addressed and are basically just the best of a bad situation.

AMD is only one of the potential difference I quoted as well. I was a PC gamer for years and still technically am, but not for high-end graphics anymore. It's a waste of money and all of the potential conflicts I mentioned are accurate.

@joejoe1639: Agree, it's probably a right pain in the neck to do, but obviously make large sums of money for them. When PC titles stop making money for publishers, is when they will stop making them for PC's. It's also actually a minority of PC gamers that pirate, not majority. Steam has been a lifeline for PC games. The profits right now are at an all time high.

@jackgriffin: It's not all about money, though. Let's just say that whichever publisher is the first to officially pull support from the PC Gaming community is going to eat the majority of backlash and negative PR. I think the time is coming, but it will be interesting to see which publisher has the balls to be first.

@joejoe1639: It is because of all of those different hardware combinations that exsists things called DirectX, OpenGL, Mantle and Vulkan . Look it up.
All of those bad PC ports out there is just plain laziness from the Devs.
In case you didn't know, every single game out there ever created, are all coded with computers and then ported to consoles and handhelds. So yeah... lazyness.

@Molokai16: DirectX helps streamline development, but you're crazy if you think it offsets all of the potential problems created by the ridiculous amounts of different setups PC gamers can have. Also, the fact that they're coded on computers is meaningless; most games are coded to work with console hardware/infrastructure and then modified for PC.

It's a lot of extra work, and I guess you could say the fact that the devs occasionally look for shortcuts means they're lazy, but I think it means PC development is ultimately not worth it. If they were just lazy the console version would've sucked to.

Can someone tell me what I can do about a refund? I bought my code over at Kinguin.net and their policy states that if I activated the game key already, I can't get a refund.

This is the best most stable Batman game of all the Arkham series. I have no issues at all. I can only assume there are people who just refuse to buy a new video card and in their own narcissistic brain they demand a high-end game to run on low end outdated hardware. Those piss-ant complaining narcissistic hubris twerps should be ashamed. Thank you Rock-steady and Valve and Warner Bros for creating a very cool and stable game and please don't give a refund to any dumb-ass that don't know how to properly build a fine quality PC gaming rig. I tested my mid-range PC rig against two low-end PC rigs - I had my nephew and my younger brother install my game on their low-end machines. They loved the game and had no issues or bugs, none at all! This game runs amazingly well. I have every setting maxed out because that's the way it's meant to be played - fast and fun and beautiful, shame on those false complainers. My great thanks to the developers of the finest Batman game every made.

@athleos: Yes ofcourse, its people who dont know how to use PC's that are complaining. the collective 13,500 complaints from the steam announcement alone, must mean it's their own fault.

People with rigs that shit on your own Titans, 970's, R9 390's cant play this game without crashes or bugs.

The patches they've done made my game run worse and i have an i7 3770k, 8GB Ram, R9 280X and my frame rate dipped from 60 to 20fps at times, it freezes and crashes.

Just because you seemingly have the luck of the gods doesn't mean its a perfectly ported game which CLEARLY it isn't if they need to recall and then give up on fixing the game.

from reading what the continued issues are, "get over it" comes to mind. really the game is great and not broken by any means now.....every game on pc has some issues. has anyone ever read the enormous bug list witcher 3 has incurred. Hell I get they screwed up, but now it seems the complaints are a bit ridiculous. They may never do another pc game again......

@jerger_gs: Witcher 3 is how to make a proper PC version. it had some issues at the beginning but was fixed quickly. Batman AK runs ok now on high settings 1080p 60-45 fps without Nvidia's special effect (phsyx) but it still has some stuttering issues that affect and hurt gameplay. hope they don't give up and try and fix it a bit more.

I really don't understand this mentality of people consoles vs pc. People should realise that the consoles you buy itself is like a pc, the only advantage it provides the devolopers is that they have a fixed specification to cater towards, which makes it easier for them to optimise the games for the consoles as compared to pcs because everyone will not have the same configuration. I own an Xbone and a mid to high end pc, I game on both and I wouldn't pick one over the other because both have their advantages. But for people who live on a budget its easier to get a pc that does alot rather than consoles that can't be used for much.

Recent trends of both xbox one and ps4 seem to be geared towards getting as much money out of their customers as possible without offering them much for the price of it. There is a huge difference between the prices of pc games compared to console games where I'm from, I don't think theres much of a difference in the states.

Consoles are not a household necessity here, but PCs have become a part of everyone's life, if not desktop computers then atleast laptops.

And please, don't kid yourselves, for couch gaming you can't beat consoles, and for gaming in general PCs are better. No type chatting multiplayer is fucking ridiculous, what age are we living in? Why can't console games adopt the chat wheel like in dota 2? Jeez.

@guardian2066: People(myself included) choose consoles simply for ease of use. I buy a game, I pop it in and play. I never have to worry about whether my console's graphics card drivers are up to date or whether it will run my games. I never have to worry about secondary software that will run my party chat or social interactions or hardware to record my gameplay. If my console breaks, it's nearly always been within the warranty period, and even if it's not, it's generally cheaper to replace a console than a $400 video card or an entire motherboard.

I'm not sure what you're referring to in terms of consoles milking their customers, but I've incurred no extra costs aside from game purchases and subscriptions. Subscriptions that nearly guarantee me safe online play, "free" games every month and loads of other extras.

As for the chat wheel, what age are you living in that you still use one? My friends that play WoW and LoL use voice chat exclusively and I don't know of a single console game that would benefit from text chat.

@Zombrex: OK just to run through a few of the reasons that its glaringly obvious that you're misinformed:

- Motherboards and video cards cost less than consoles(even if it seems like alien technology to you). Do you think that PC hardware doesn't have warranties? Spoiler alert... they do. You can make the assertion that its more difficult or expensive but it sounds like that's just an assumption you made out of ignorance.

- How often do you think you need to upgrade hardware? You can play games on a 10 year old GPU but they're gonna look even worse than they do on console.

- How hard do you think it is to update drivers? You need Sony to hold your hand for you so you don't have to click "update"?

- Extra hardware or software for recording or chat? Now you're comparing 3rd party options to stock Sony features. But do you actually believe that they would be equivalent in quality? PC can record with only software as well but once again you conflate things that aren't the same.

- What are these loads of other extras you refer to? What can be worth paying hundreds over the years in subscription costs? You're barred from online unless you pay THAT is how they milk you.

- What is safe online play? Are you implying PC is somehow not safe for online play?

You seem to have no idea what your comparing yet seem to be sure of what you're saying. Its like you people don't understand that quality varies and you get what you pay for. What you're paying for is convenience and the lowest common denominator of everything.

@Zombrex: People choose to buy consoles when they can afford it. you realise that playing games on a console is not really a necessity right? If you had an option to choose between these, and you can only get 1 of these which would you choose : PC/Mac, Laptop, Console(any).

The only time I had to replace a motherboard was when I was upgrading, which was 2 years back, and you'r talking as if motherboards/graphic cards don't have warranty or something. Unless you plan on throwing your console/pc down the stairs everyday before turning them on, I don't really see the comparison here? Are you saying that people should get consoles because they are "cheaper" to replace?

Honestly I don't really care what other people get for themselves, because its their prerogative to spend their hard earned money as they wish, I just don't understand this need for everyone to feel superior by trying to prove what they spent their money on is better than what other people spend their money on.

WoW and LoL are Pc games, in LoL you can do fine with voice chat as you are in a team and its a team based game. In WoW you can the inbuilt voice chat option but its not that good, so people resort to using skype, ventrilo to chat to known contacts/groups.

Now on consoles you can voice chat with people if they are in your party, thats it. If say, you'r in a game called destiny, and if you don't have any friends online it gets difficult to communicate with strangers because there is no real option to do that.

So the previous installments of Batman was ok but all of a sudden RockSteady became stupid and forgot how to make a Batman pc game ? They just didn't want to make this for the pc and they purposely did this to boost console sales. Next time don't bother with any pc version. You would have saved people a lot of time and heartache.

@tommynj: Yeeaah, because getting your name and standards thrown in the garbage, having to deal with this shit that they're in now, and having to do refunds for people that'll beat the game before they return it, is a great marketing strategy. They did one mistake. They hired some 3rd party noobs to make the port for PC. There's no ridiculous conspiracy to boost sales on consoles.

Well I finally decided to fire this game up again last night, didn't really play mainly just wanted to see if I was one of the people that would be having issues. Luckily after about 20 minutes of just kind of driving around and running around game seems to play fine for me. I can certainly notice the visual upgrades they've made to the game from when it first launched which honestly was all I was waiting for. For me the game always ran fine you could just tell the visuals were lacking from what they should be.

With so many good games on the horizon though it will probably be a bit before I get back in Batman mode but I plan to keep my copy though I'll probably think twice before jumping to buy the next one and I'll pass all together if they use another outside studio to do the development.

Man the Destructoid article made it seem like that WB said they were no longer going to be attempting to patch this game and are just going to be leaving it as is and that those who don't like it can get a refund. This whole thing sux and is a serious mess and this is coming from someone who doesn't even own a gaming PC and bought the game on the PS4 and had no issues wither way this is still a crappy way to treat the PC gaming community.
