Arrow's Crisis On Infinite Earths Cross-Over Adds Iconic Batman Actor

Black Lightning will also finally join the Arrow-verse.

The CW's upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, which will bring the various Arrow-verse shows together for their biggest showdown yet, just got a bit more interesting. It was announced at the TCA press tour that none other than Bruce Wayne himself would finally appear in the universe.

What's even more exciting is who will play the role. Batman: The Animated Series star Kevin Conroy will appear as a version of Bruce Wayne from the future. It's interesting to note that the press release from The CW notes this Bruce is from the future. That means he likely won't be the version Batwoman's Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) is familiar with. It was not revealed whether he would also portray Batman.

Conroy joins Burt Ward as previous Batman stars that will appear in Crisis. Additionally, Legends of Tomorrow star Brandon Routh will suit up as Superman--a role he played in 2006's Superman Returns.

The CW has also revealed that stars of Black Lightning will finally join the Arrow-verse in the crossover. In its first two seasons, the show was kept separate from the rest of the network's DC Entertainment shows. With Crisis, though, it'll be joining the pack.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will air over five episodes of TV. It kicks off with the December 8 episode of Supergirl, followed by Batwoman on December 9, and The Flash on December 10. Then, the event will conclude with installments of Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on January 14.

Brandon Routh will suit up as Superman? Will that be a gag? If not, won’t it be confusing because of Legends and the fact that they already casted a Superman in Supergirl?

@streamline:
Crisis on INFINITE EARTHS....I don't think anyone is gonna mind if Routh suites up as Superman.

@redviperofdorne: Since he’s a character in Legends that’s part of this Infinite Earth crossover, it makes it very odd that there’s a human in a parallel universe that looks like Kal’El. My guess is that they’re going to have fun with it and he will wear the suit, but won’t be Superman.

@streamline: There will be more than on Superman in the crossover. All the Eartgs are colliding. Routh is Kingdom Come Supes. He's definitely going to be Superman.

They could still salvage Batwoman by making Kevin Conroy into Old Bruce and have him acting as a partner/mentor down the line.

This is sure to be a clusterfuck. I guess they learned nothing from the Nazi crossover where they tried to shoehorn in as many people as possible.

@ClunkerSlim: At least they're trying to appease fans of these major events. Some of these shows refuse to acknowledge the other heroes in their universe (SHIELD is pretty much ignoring the movies at this point). A 5 hour event is a much better medium for doing it than a 2 hour movie.

I'd be totally down for a Batman Beyond show with Kevin Conroy playing Bruce. It just makes too much sense.

@ebola9717: I dunno about that. Beyond wasn't nearly as good as AS, and sci-fi settings tend to be expensive. Networks outside of the premium channels are more risk averse than ever.
