Although Mark "Jock" Simpson is an established comic artist known for his work on The Losers and the British sci-fi comic 2000 AD, he's also working as a film production artist on the forthcoming remakes of Judge Dredd and Dune, according to Electronic Arts. Now, Jock is trying his hand in video games, teaming up with renowned fellow artist Chris Bachalo to illustrate dramatic in-game sequences for the shooter sequel Army of Two: The 40th Day.

Amid the first day of Comic-Con 2009, the game's publisher, EA, announced today the two artists will illustrate the outcomes of moral choices players must make throughout the game. When a player makes a major decision, the game will cut to a sequence of still images that show the short- and long-term consequences.

Bachalo is known for his work on such comic series as Marvel's Captain America, Uncanny X-Men, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He will sign original artwork from the upcoming title at EA's Comic-Con booth from July 24-25 (2:00-4:00 p.m. PDT).

Army of Two: The 40th Day follows up on the adventures of the mercenary duo, Salem and Rios, as they fight for survival in the besieged city of Shanghai. The game is due out this winter for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP. For more information on the involvement of the artists in Army of Two: The 40th Day, watch the video below.
