Army of Two: Devil's Cartel will reel back 'frat-boy' tones
Visceral Games says upcoming co-op shooter has toned down some tendencies from past games, but will still be over-the-top.
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel will "reel in" some of the "frat-boy-esque" tendencies of the first two games but will still retain an arcade feel, Visceral Games told Eurogamer.
"The previous Army of Two games had a real frat-boy-esque tone to them," designer Greg Rizzer said. "We've kind of reeled that in a little bit, but we certainly wanted to still be over-the-top."
Rizzer added that gamers should not take The Devil's Cartel too seriously. At the end of the day, games are meant to be fun, he said.
"Especially in the market today where every shooter is claiming to be the most realistic, one of the things that's starting to slip away is games are meant to be fun," Rizzer said. "Even if it's a game that's violent in content, we still as gamers need to be able to appreciate a Michael Bay-esque type of experience. And using all this new technology we have, why not?"
The Devil's Cartel is due out March 26 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
