Archer will get at least three more seasons, though they'll be the show's shortest ever.

FX's Archer has been renewed for three more seasons, presidents of original programming Nick Grad and Eric Schrier announced today. Each season will consist of eight episodes with Season 8 set to kick off early next year.

"We can't say enough about what [creator Adam Reed], [producer Matt Thompson], and the entire Archer team at Floyd County [Productions] have done to keep this series so insanely funny and vital through seven seasons," said Grad. "The move to Los Angeles this past season as private detectives was just the latest twist in Archer's legendary exploits and the next three seasons will to be just as amazing and unpredictable. We are thrilled to continue making great TV with our friends and colleagues at Floyd County."

Each of the next three seasons consisting of only eight episodes means these will be the shortest in the show's history. Every season up to now has had 13 episodes--except for 1 and 7, which both had 10.

Archer features the vocal talents of H Jon Benjamin as the titular character, Aisha Tyler as Lana Kane, Jessica Walter as Archer's mother, and Chris Parnell as Cyril Figgis. Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Adam Reed, and Lucky Yates can all be heard on the show as well.

Despite Archer's popularity, there's been no announcement of a game based on the show. That doesn't mean there hasn't been interest from developers, though. Obsidian Entertainment project director Josh Sawyer talked about Archer's similarities with the studio's Alpha Protocol.

"Alpha Protocol has a very realistic look to it, but it's also kind of silly and comical in a lot of ways," he said. "And a lot of that comedy, I think would fit...obviously, Archer is a great fit for that stuff."
