Namco Hometek today announced Arc the Lad: End of Darkness, the next title in the long-running Arc the Lad franchise. The game will be released in May for the PlayStation 2, nearly 10 years after the first Arc the Lad title was released for the PlayStation in Japan.

Gamers will be playing as Edda, a young man tired of insular life. After a chance encounter, Edda takes on the task of hunting criminals while keeping an eye on the mysterious Kirika, a young woman shrouded in suspicious behavior. The game will eventually lead Edda to embark on a journey to help save human civilization.

End of Darkness will feature a real-time battle system, a first for the series, as well as reworked guild and upgrade systems. The game will also support online multiplayer in both competitive and cooperative modes, and feature missions exclusively for online play.

We'll have more on Arc the Lad: End of Darkness soon. In the meantime, check out our full review of Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits.
