Warner Bros. has announced that its upcoming Aquaman film starring Jason Momoa will arrive in theaters on October 5, 2018, according to Deadline. The movie is being directed by Saw's James Wan.

Aquaman had a small role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Before the standalone film, Aquaman will be seen again in 2017's Justice League.

Aquaman also stars Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Nuidis Vulko. Wan is also known for Furious 7 and horror movie Insidious.

Little is known about Aquaman's story right now, but Wan shared some insight earlier this year.

"I kind of don't want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I'm going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story," he said. "It's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone."
