Apple TV Plus Is Getting More Expensive

Apple is raising the price of its services, and this includes Apple TV Plus. The streaming platform that hosts shows like Severance and Ted Lasso will cost $7/month going forward, up from $5/month.

Apple Music will see its price increased $1 to $11/month, while Apple One--the bundle that includes Apple TV Plus, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and more--will cost $16.95/month, which is up from $14.95/month. Presumably, these price changes will go into effect during the next billing cycle.

A spokesperson for Apple told CNET that Apple TV Plus is getting more expensive because, while it started with "just a few shows and movies," the catalog has grown since and carries additional costs. Apple Music is getting more expensive due to increased licensing and fees for artists, the spokesperson said.

Apple TV Plus has a number of big films and TV series coming up, including Martin Scorsese's newest film, Killers of the Flower Moon, as well as the rumored Ted Lasso Season 3. On the more immediate horizon is the Will Ferrell/Ryan Reynolds holiday musical comedy Spirited, which releases in November.

In other news, Apple recently announced a deal with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan for his next TV show that is not part of the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe. Little is known, but Better Call Saul's Rhea Seehorn will star on the show.
