Another Xbox One Backward-Compatible Game Announced

Left 4 Dead 2 joins the ever-expanding list of Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One.

The rapid-fire addition of games to the list of Xbox 360 titles playable on Xbox One continues today, with Microsoft announcing that Left 4 Dead 2 can now be played on the console.

The news comes courtesy of Xbox Live's Major Nelson, who shared on Twitter that Valve's cooperative zombie shooter has joined the backward-compatible list. It's the second Valve game to be added, following Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

This means you can now pop a Left 4 Dead 2 disc for Xbox 360 into an Xbox One and, following a small download, play it on the newer system. Alternatively, if you own (or purchase) a digital version, you can find it in the Ready to Download list of the My Games and Apps area.

Just yesterday, Halo Wars, SoulCalibur II, and The King of Fighters '98 all became backward compatible on Xbox One. Last week also saw two separate sets of additions, headlined by Assassin's Creed and Dark Souls.

Left 4 Dead 2 was among the highest vote-getters on the Xbox Feedback website, where fans can share which games they want to see made backward compatible on Xbox One. This doesn't always guarantee anything, as the most popular games on there--Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Skyrim, and Red Dead Redemption--still aren't available.

For a look of what's playable on Xbox One, check out the full list.

@jyml8582: I guessing you didn't read the last paragraph of this article.

So GS...Are you going to post an article everytime there is a new Xbox 360 game that goes BC?

@rosinmonkekyx17: Hopefully they do. If it weren't for their posting, I personally wouldn't be aware of what new BC games are playable.

@JustinGoSka: They post lists, right now they're posting individual games

@rosinmonkekyx17: I don't know what your problem is with them reporting news. They should report, it is their job to report news.

Don't know about the bc patches being small. It was 7.5gb for Mass Effect and 8.4gb for Fable 2, which I'd describe as hefty (though acceptable). Don't know how big the digital copies would be.

@waelse1: those are the digital copies. Those bc "patches" download and install their complete version of the game they have approval for. Not just a patch, that 8 gigs is the game itself.

@Mirimon78: But I didn't pay anything, and must have the disk loaded to play.

@waelse1: the game is not played from the disk, nor installed from it. Again the disc is a drm access key in function, it is what msft uses to authorize you to play the game you downloaded and installed, not the one you own.

@Mirimon78: The article refers to a small download, but to get bc it looks like you get a full modified game. When I loaded a Fable 2 disk I got an 8.4gb download.

@waelse1: and it is small, relatively compared to next gen games. 360 games are on dvd... can you guess the storage capacity of dvd????

@Mirimon78: Yeah I'm not complaining about file size, just glad to get good bc games.

@waelse1:

A 4TB external hard drive is a really good investment and you won't have to worry about such things.
