NPD Group reports that millions and millions of game software titles were bought in the quarter ending March 31. Curious to know how many?

The NPD Group's Interactive Entertainment Software Service reports that 13.3 million units of video game software and 10.4 million units of computer entertainment software were sold during the first quarter of 1997 - for a combined increase of 58 percent over the same period last year. Leading the sales surge were titles for the Nintendo 64 console; N64 software dominated NPD's top eight best-selling software slots (although only 14 titles were available through March). PlayStation software sales increased 170 percent and Saturn software sales increased 135 percent over the same period last year. PC software sales increased 38 percent in the quarter.
