Eidos Interactive has announced that its 3D sci-fi role-playing game Anachronox has shipped to stores and will be available later this week. The console-style third-person game lets players assume the role of Sylvester "Sly" Boots, an out-of-work detective who gets wrapped up in a mysterious quest that spans the galaxy. In the game, players will encounter a wide variety of alien creatures in more than 100 areas. The game features a hybrid turn-based/real-time combat system, and it lets players control up to three characters at a time.

Anachronox was developed by Ion Storm, and it will be available in stores on June 29 for an approximate retail price of $39.95. We'll post a full review of Anachronox soon, but until then, take a look at our collection of screenshots, movies, and in-depth previews of the game.
