History Channel's popular TV series Ancient Aliens--you know, the one that has spawned all the memes--is becoming a movie. Godzilla vs. Kong studio Legendary has reached a deal with Cobra Kai's creators to make an Ancient Aliens film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz from Counterbalance will direct the movie, with Luke Ryan lined up to write the script. Ryan founded Chaotic Good, a worldbuilding company that has worked on design for Disney, Amazon, Fox, and Warner.

Ancient Aliens has been on TV since 2009 and is now up to nearly 200 episodes across 16 seasons. The show features host Giorgio A. Tsoukalos talking to people about extraterrestrial beings who may have come to Earth throughout history.

Legendary said the Ancient Aliens movie "will be a two-handed, globe-spanning adventure featuring ancient sites and artifacts, confronting the theories and questions raised by the popular docuseries."

Aliens are in the news again, as 2020's $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief bill also included a provision regarding UFOs. The package, which was approved in December 2020, kicked off a 180-day countdown for intelligence officials to reveal more about what they know about UFOs. Given that timeline, we should learn more in June.
