As part of its latest earnings report, Nintendo announced that it shipped 24.7 million physical Amiibo figures during its latest financial year. Now, slides from the earnings presentation have been posted online that shed more light on how Nintendo's Amiibo business is doing overall compared to last year.

In addition to the 24.7 million Amiibo figures shipped worldwide in the past financial year (ended March 31), Nintendo moved another 28.9 million Amiibo cards, bringing the total number of Amiibo shipments to 53.6 million.

By comparison, Nintendo shipped around 10.5 million Amiibo figures in the entire previous financial year. Note that Amiibo toys went on sale in June 2014, which is a few months into Nintendo's financial year. In addition, Amiibo faced widespread shortages at launch, which impacted sales. Amiibo cards, meanwhile, are still relatively new, having launched in summer 2015.

Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima added that the Amiibo toy line may also be benefiting hardware sales.

"By providing a continued presence for Nintendo characters in stores, we believe the Amiibo platform has created great benefits for all of Nintendo's platforms," he said.

In the United States, the Amiibo toys for Link, Pikachu, and Zelda are proving very popular; all of these are described in another slide as "evergreen."
