AMD unveils Athlon XP 2600+ and 2400+

Hardware developer AMD has taken the wraps off its Athlon XP 2600+ and 2400+ processors, which feature AMD's QuantiSpeed architecture.

"As the performance leader, the AMD Athlon XP processor 2600+ reigns as the superior choice and delivers outstanding performance for richer, higher-powered digital computing," said AMD marketing vice president Ed Ellet.

Currently, only a few of the processors have been sent out as samples to hardware manufacturers. AMD expects the processors to become available to consumers in September with estimated prices of $297 and $193 for the 2600+ and 2400+, respectively.
