Amazon's Top 10 Selling Games Of 2020 Were Almost All Nintendo Games

Amazon has revealed which video games were its top-sellers in 2020, and in a year that saw no shortage of excellent titles on offer, Nintendo proved to be a dominant force.

Out of the top 10, Nintendo claimed eight spots on the list which saw Animal Crossing: New Horizons take first place. In a year where many people were forced to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic, the relaxing island getaway game proved to be a winner in not one but two slots.

Animal Crossing's physical edition was joined by demand for digital downloads sold through Amazon, with that version of the game also ending up in fourth place. Super Mario 3D All-Stars came in second place, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe took the third spot, and Smash Bros. Ultimate claimed the fifth position on the list.

Cyberpunk 2077, which boasted 13 million sales at launch, came in at number six. The Last of Us Part II was the only other non-Nintendo game on Amazon's list, clinching ninth place ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Ring Fit Adventure and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity took the seventh and eighth positions on the best-sellers list, respectively.

Outside of Amazon, Steam’s own "Best of 2020" revealed that Among Us, Doom Eternal, and Fall Guys were some of its highest-grossing games for 2020, alongside established titles such as CS: GO, Destiny 2, and PUBG. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 was named Steam's Game of the Year for 2020, while Valve's own Half-Life: Alyx won the VR Game of the Year award, which we also quite a bit as well and awarded it the top prize of Game of the Year.
