Amazon Studios has released a series of new character posters for its upcoming Lord of the Rings series, Rings of Power, which premieres in September. The character posters are striking and intriguing, providing a first glimpse at some of the people we'll meet in the long-awaited fantasy show.

The images don't show any character faces and don't give away too much, but fans will surely spend time poring over them for secrets and other mysteries. You can see all the new posters in the gallery below. What's clear is that the show will have a big cast of diverse characters from a variety of backgrounds.

Rings of Power premieres September 2 on Prime, with new episodes airing on a weekly basis. Robert Aramayo and Joseph Mawle from Game of Thrones are among the cast members, though Amazon has yet to announce any details on the characters who will appear in the show and who plays them.

The show takes place during the Second Age of Middle-earth, which is thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings. Many major moments in Middle-earth history happened during the 3,441-year period, including Sauron's rise to power, the creation of the One Ring, and the rise and fall of Numenor.

Outside of Rings of Power, a new animated Lord of the Rings movie is on the way, while a video game focused on Gollum is in development. A Lord of the Rings version of Wordle is also here.
