Amazon Studios has announced a new hire who will help lead the charge for the marketing and promotion of the network's big-budget Lord of the Rings TV show and its other projects.

The company has hired Greg Coleman to become the new global head of franchise marketing, with a start date of March 1, according to Deadline. He will report to Amazon Studios chief marketing office of Prime Video, Ukonwa Ojo.

Coleman, who came to Amazon after a successful run at Disney where he helped launch the Frozen franchise, will take the lead on creating marketing campaigns for Amazon Studio's sci-fi and fantasy TV movies and TV shows, including Lord of the Rings.

Given that Amazon is reportedly spending over $1 billion to produce the Lord of the Rings TV show, it's expected that it will have a significant marketing push. However, the specifics of Coleman's plans to promote and hype the fantasy show are not yet available--he doesn't start until March 1, after all.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who is stepping down from his role but will remain a central decision-maker for Amazon going forward, was said to have personally spearheaded the deal to acquire the Lord of the Rings TV rights and is a big fan of fantasy himself.
