Sony announced via Twitter today that they “sold 2.1 million units of the PS4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall globally!” According to a press release, the numbers represent sales through January 15, and matching that up with console sales figures from earlier this month (which put the PS4 at 4.2 million units sold), you can surmise that almost half of all PS4 owners have purchased the shooter.

While sales numbers for other titles aren’t available, Killzone was still outsold overall by multiplatform shooters Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4, according to 2013 NPD data (unless Sony sold a ridiculous amount of Killzone in the last couple weeks). There are no breakouts for how many of either competing game sold on Xbox One or PS4, but the fact that Sony hasn't said Killzone is the best-selling game on their system so far speaks for itself. Still, the Sony statistic is impressive because of the fact that the game was not a pack-in title and that it represents such a large portion of the Sony userbase.

Sony did not provide sales numbers for their other exclusive retail title Knack, which received less than favorable review scores.
