So much hate for an actual machine that'll be released and prove the doubters wrong! Let the machine come out then we'll all see man! At least this thing is real and is coming out in a few weeks. Upscaling or native, whatever!

This is too little, how many years too late? Console war fallout continues years later. Next gen consoles way overdue. Do it right this time and I might actually buy one.

If they offer a bundle with a nice 4K TV for a reasonable price around Black Friday, I'll probably pick it up. I've been meaning to upgrade my TV for a while anyhow. Here's to hoping!

As a PC and PS4 gamer, gaming on a 4K smart TV, I see no point in upgrading to pro. I have my 4K BD player and streaming services app from the smart TV. Big mistakes on Sony and I wont support this business model. We were sold half of what Next gen were supposed to be and the pro is what true next gen console, 2 and a half years late! Feels like the standard PS4 was rushed to compete with the X1.

I rather use the money saved to upgrade my PC and go with Scorpio next year. Hugely dissapointed with Sony, but glad Microsoft is fighting back. This is coming from a PC and PS4 gamer!

@hardeddie: What's the point in gaming on a 4kTV with a 1080p PS4? Btw reason why it feels like we were sold half of what the next gen console should have been like is because of the world economy took a major hit prior to the release of the ps4. If the PS4 with the PS4 pro specs was sold back in 2013 it would probably cost around $700-$800.

I think the most important information for most people as of currently, is what can the Pro do for us that use 1080p TV's (or, any HDTV I suppose). Perhaps it's just important to me, I don't know, but still, this is what the Sony site says:

PS4 Pro offers benefits even if you play on a HDTV that isn’t 4K. Depending on how the developer chooses to use the increased pessing power, games with PS4 Pro support are able to render higher or more consistent framerates, increased environmental and character model detail, improved overall visual quality, and other related visual enhancements. Additionally, PS4 games that render below native 1080p (maximum quality for HD TVs) on the standard PS4 can be elevated to render at full native 1080p on an HDTV.

---

I am not sure that is really good enough to warrant getting, but at least that's nice? I am not ready to buy a TV that's capable to support the best of what Sony is touting with their new console.

It comes down as a cost saving move, not for the consumer but for sony. MS is becoming a lot more consumer friendly and sony hasn't had any competition in a year or so. Maximizing profits, i really hope the scorpio does well in sales. I prefer the PS4 library but i'm starting to hate being a customer of sony, so i hope MS really shakes things up.

"Sony has announced plans to bring high dynamic range support to all existing PS4 consoles. This includes the standard model." HOW, they can't do that. By can't I mean actually IMPOSSIBLE seeing as the PS4 and xbox one has HDMI 1.4 or something like that, meaning it's NOT something they can do with a firmware update.

sounds like a pointless buy to me. Only people who only really care about "looks" (like PC gamers) should get this. This is the first Playstation piece of hardware I am really not excited for.

@whereisyourgodn: I have a gaming PC and I prefer console over PC. Games released on PC as of late have been bug filled broken trash compared to their console counter parts. Developers and publishers will and always have focused on consoles because thats where the money is at. Consoles dominate the living room just as they always have since the conception of gaming. Publishers are in this for the money, and not enough people own gaming pc's for them to warrant putting any effort, time or money in to pc game development. Facts are facts. Its sad, but true.

@dta7x: I love the good old " I have a PC and I prefer Console Gaming." ..that is hot trash on a Sunday afternoon. Outside of Batman Arkham Knight what are ALL these games that are just complete BUG fests? I'll patiently wait for your Google search sir.....

@pa_amb_tomaquet "PC games are always just ports of console games"....wha? these games are created with PCs and ported to consoles, what do you think a developer kit it is..its more PC than it is console.

The Lies you Peasants convince yourselves of are truly Pathetic. Both $ony and Micro$oft are taking notice of the PCMR, all Xbox exclusives from here on out will also be on PC now, and PsNow will also be on PC. How long before $ony goes the same route as Micro$oft, and try to capitalize on the PC market, which has grown tremendously since the release of the GTX 1000 Series cards from Nvidia..which are crazy affordable. Even $ony themselves said they were afraid of users leaving for PC, so keep lying to yourselves, it just makes this all that much better for me.

Cheers!

@whereisyourgodn: You don't need google to find that stuff out. Just look back at any PC release of any major game that was released on console first. They all had huge problems. Well ya created on PC's what's your point? A console is just a computer that does not run windows haha. Ergo some would argue it's better just on that point lol. At any rate, what ever you decide to play your games on cheers. Enjoy spending $1000 for a graphics card.

@pa_amb_tomaquet: $1000 on a graphics card..? See, how can I take anything you say serious when you are still telling and trying to convince yourself of these lies. One GTX 1080 is worth three P$4 Pros and it only cost $600, and you wouldn't need to Upgrade that for 6-7 years, don't talk about things you don't know Peasant..educate yourself.

@dta7x: True, PC games are always just ports of console games, often bug ridden. The games that are exclusive to PC are 80% of the time trash. PC gamers only care about looks at the end of the day. I also have a gaming PC, but prefer the PS4.

@whereisyourgodn: Oh yeah, I game on pc and wii u. Had a ps4 and was severely let down by it. It was a slap in the face for what theyou pulled with that "next-gen" console. I like Nintendo for the fact that they have enough courage to make something different. And like you said, pc never needs "re-mastered" editions. A lot of aaa titles can't run on completely max setting smoothly for years after they come out. But unless Nintendo completely screws up, they'll always be worth it because they'll always be different. Sooner or later ps4 or xbox will finally give up or merge because they literally make the same shit lol

@wendopolis_bruh: That's the entire generation man, nothing to do with just Sony. I agree, too many remakes/remasters, but there are also some really jaw-dropping games mixed in there. Just gotta be selective. Also, if you have a PS4 already, I wouldn't bother with this upgrade. I don't, so it's a good buy for me.

Not being able to play a 4k Blu-Ray is a deal breaker for me. Sure, a 4k Blu Ray to buy now I think is what, 30 bucks? A bit steep. The issue is, the PS4 Pro is focused on what's currently good now. Not down the road. Soon 4k movies will be cheaper to buy and there will be more of them. I don't like being given only the option to be able to stream media in 4k. Streaming's great but you never own the content. I like to have a collection. For that reason, I will keep my current PS4 and skip this one. Sorry Sony, you messed up on this one. #ownyourmedia

@dolsr85: It IS disappointing, but after I got over my initial "WTF?!" reaction, I realized that it's not that big of a deal for me. I rarely buy blu rays anyway. I can see how it would affect others more. I'm not a tech guy, but one of my friends said that if they really wanted to, they could potentially modify the included drive through a software update and get it to play 4k Blu-Ray, as they did in the past with 3D for PS3. I have no idea if this is true or not, but I don't much care. It's the best gaming system on the market currently, and I mostly game/stream movies.

@ProjektInsanity: Yeah... I'm just not ready to say for example 'Dear Netflix I'll pay you x amount of dollars every month so I can view your content that I don't even own. Your content lacks as it is. Sure, I'll watch The Walking Dead seasons 1-4 on Netflix, wait there's more? I have to get Hulu to watch season 5?' Just an example but crap like that happens a lot.

@dolsr85: Oh, I understand. I think the problem is partly that Sony is trying to build for a future that isn't quite here yet. If storage rapidly progressed, making it realistically possible to have an "iTunes-like" library of digital movies/series stored and they could be quickly retrieved with great quality, I think the PS4 Pro move would be an obvious winner. But we don't have that yet. A company shouldn't try to get too progressive and forget what most users actually want in the process. That's what hurt the XBOne this generation.

@ProjektInsanity: Right on bro. I am not against streaming but am if it restricts the content you can watch. Certain movies and seasons you can't find on Netflix and Hulu for for example. If it got to the point where majority of devices can only accept subscription based streaming services then what a shame. Right now I use Plex to stream my own media and Pavtube Bytecopy. Check it out if you haven't already. :)

Cheers.

@dolsr85: Most 4K TV's these days are also smart TV's that have access to netflix etc anyway so there is very little need for a separate device.

@pspearman: Right because Netflix has all movies and TV shows you could ever want... Pfft. Open your eyes man. These streaming services are cool but their selection is not great. Their selection choice is very limited which is why I prefer to have my own collection. Netflix will never have a complete collection and will never be able to stream true 4K quality. Netflix will downgrade your video quality content based on your bandwidth. By taking away the option to play a 4K Blu Ray disc, it takes away the option to play true 4K quality. I don't see why Sony just couldn't do both. Allow 4K disc playback and allow up to 4K streaming quality. Be skeptical on relying too much on the subscription services my dear friend pspearman. More power that goes to these subscription services, means less power to own your own media. If everyone subscribed to the subscription services, companies will make devices that allow for only streaming. Then you're stuck with only the media that something like Netflix puts up. Let's be honest. Netflix content isn't always the greatest. There's more flexibility in owning your own media which is why I prefer it and hope you do too.

@dolsr85: My initial comment was lacking context. What I meant is Sony's focus on streaming is a waste of time when most peoples 4K TVs can stream anyway, Sony should have added 4K blu ray players to their consoles because that is an actual useful addition to their gaming credentials.

Sony Will Talk More About PS4 Pro Specs Soon. What else can they say or tell anyone? PS4 Pro is the biggest disappointment of the year. It looks to be just a minor upgrade over the regular PS4 with not even a 4K player. PS4 Slim, what else can I say about this one, with no 4K player this is just like a series waste of time and effort. ?

@angrycreep: I disagree, as mainly a PC gamer it's good to see PS4 get a little closer, i feel like the difference between playing a game on my PC and PS4 (or X1) is to much of a difference, especially in frame rates. This will be much better.

Could have been more powerful i think, but it's still a step in the right direction.

@motopram: The rising tide lifts all ships. Unfortunately I don't think this raises high enough. As a PC gamer, I was hoping for a lot more. As a gamer who sees that Sony has a few great exclusives which might eventually be worth picking up a box for, I am sorely disappointed. PC gaming has raised my standards too high.

@angrycreep: PS4 was already a minor upgrade over last gen.....this cycle was a half jump unl;ike all previous cycles making a full jump, 8 bit to 16 bit, 16 bit to 23 bit 32 bit and with Nintendo jumping straight to 64 bit PS2 doubled that and went to 128 bit or so....this gen was like 8 bit only making a jump to 12 bit instead of 16 bit....IDK what we were up to last gen.....200 bit? 300 bit doesn't matter, we got a half jump and this is the other half........a joke none the less.....we got played for being stupid, we didn't wanna spend so much and we got gyped......

@darthrevenx: I went from x360 to ps4 this gen, I used to game in pc years and years ago and I do really miss it, maybe one day? In the meantime I am genuinely having a load of fun on the ps4, though as you said, it doesn't feel like we have vastly more power than the previous gen? As for the Pro model, no thanks for me. Current system works just fine and the day i pay up to upgrade to a 50" or bigger 4k screen will be the day after I get myself a new pc gaming rig. Who knows, perhaps in time for half-life 3 haha.

It has been obv for a while now the sony is not sharing the neo/pro specs bc the scorpio takes a big wet dump on it. But we had to wait 6+ months for them to not confirm it, but conceal it and let it become known? Dumb strategy. Disappointing
