All PS4 Games Confirmed For E3 2019 (So Far)
Greatness still awaits PS4 fans at E3 (even without Sony present).
The video game's industry biggest show of the year, E3 2019, is so close. We're already inundated with pre-E3 events, and next week is set to be even bigger--even with the absence of Sony from the proceedings. PlayStation will not be attending E3 this year, meaning there won't be a Sony press conference or booth on the stage floor. That's sad news for those desperate to hear about the company's first-party games, but there are still plenty of other companies attending the show with PS4 games to showcase.
Sony decided against appearing at E3 2019 out of a desire to showcase its games in new and different ways compared to previous years. "As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community," the company said in a statement to GameSpot. "PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can't wait to share our plans with you."
At this point, we don't know what those plans will look like, as Sony has not announced any kind of replacement event--although it did surprise by revealing a variety of details about the PS5 this spring. The system is still without an official name or release date, but it's now spoken about the system on multiple occasions, detailing its specs and drastic load time improvements.
Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II are still the company's biggest upcoming tentpole releases for PS4. Even with PS5 coming, Sony has reassured fans that these games will still release on PS4. We finally got a release date for Death Stranding recently, as Sony released a lengthy new trailer for the game, seemingly in lieu of having a presence at E3.
On the other hand, The Last of Us Part II co-director Anthony Newman said that developer Naughty Dog is looking to hire people to help "close out" the long-awaited game. Unfortunately, Ghost of Tsushima hasn't received any recent development updates as of late.
E3 will last about three days going from June 11-13. A handful of press conferences from the industry's biggest companies are scheduled to precede the show. Read on for the full list of confirmed PS4 games so far, and check back as we continue to update this article with more in the coming days.
