UPDATE: Responding to questions about the availability of this character skin pack for those who don't preorder the game, Sega confirmed via the official Alien Isolation Facebook page that both Crew Expendable and Last Survivor will be available to everyone post-release and not limited exclusively to preorders.

The full statement follows below:

It's genuinely been great to see the reaction to The Crew Expendable and Last Survivor pre-order bonus content we announced yesterday and how excited you all are to re-experience those classic scenes from the original movie with our Alien. It's been absolutely amazing for us at the Studio.

However, some of you have been asking if the two pieces of content are only available through pre-order or if we'll be releasing them at a later date as well.

So, I can confirm today that we do plan to release both Crew Expendable and Last Survivor at a later date and we'll have more details for you guys on that shortly.

The original story appears below:

Sega today announced that the preorder bonuses for upcoming sci-fi game Alien: Isolation, the first of which are a pair of mission packs that reunite the cast of Ridley's Scott's beloved 1979 movie, Alien. The content features the voices and likenesses of the movie's actors, including Sigourney Weaver (Ellen RIpley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), Yaphet Kotto (Parker), and Ian Holm (Ash).

All preorders for Alien: Isolation will be upgraded to the Nostromo Edition, which includes these two mission packs, called "Crew Expendable." In the content, you can play as one of surviving crewmembers (Ellen, Dallas, or Parker) as you explore the Nostromo ship. is possible that this DLC will be sold separately down the road, but right now, Sega is saying the only way to get it is to preorder the game.

"Working with the original cast has been an incredible experience," Alien: Isolation creative director Alistair Hope said in a statement. "It was important to us to have the key original cast members reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the movie. For some of the original cast, this is their first appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles after 35 years was an unforgettable experience."

Further, people in North America who preorder Alien Isolation at GameStop and in Europe at "select retailers" will receive an expansion called "Last Survivor." This content takes place as Ripley attempts to escape on the Narcissus spaceship. "On hearing the screams of Lambert and Parker, players must navigate their way back down through the Nostromo in order to activate the self-destruct sequence, before retracing their steps back to the Narcissus shuttle and their escape," Sega says.

Alien: Isolation, in development at Total War developer The Creative Assembly, launches on October 7 (a busy, busy day for new releases) for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. A virtual reality demo for the game was on display at E3, but this was just a prototype, Sega said.

If content is ready to be released on day one then it should be part of the game and not DLC/pre-order. Looks like the Pirates are going to have fun with this one, at least until a GotY/complete edition comes out......

I am ashamed to say this, but S. Weaver looked good in underwear during the end part of the movie.

Please don't be too harsh on me.

While this sounds like a great thing to have, if the game is good. I stopped doing the pre-order thing after H4. Release it as part of the game since it will be obviously ready at launch. With the industry making this the usual thing as an okay thing to do, and after all the gamestop employees constantly badgering you to pre-order, I voted with my wallet and common sense not to make this okay for myself.

Still waiting on this one. I remember what happened the last time I ordered a Aliens game from Sega. Not taking any chances this time.

Never pre-order. This bonus will surely come out later for $5. I prefer wasting $45 after the launch, if the game is good, than paying $60 for something that I don't know if it's good.

100% of the info we have about this game was carefully produced by their marketing department.

Use your brain, please.

I never gamble my money on pre-ordering. Free DLC for a POS just makes a bigger POS.

Ooooo, now this is very, very interesting.

I was already following this game. Now, I just might pre-order it.

@PixelAddict @meatz666 I was wicked interested in Colonial Marines, but I held off on my preorder to the last minute, and even then I decided I'd wait until the reviews came in.

And surprise, what we were given was not what we were promised. My roommate was also quite disappointed with how Rome II turned out and his a rampaging Total War fan. You've got two companies involved who don't exactly give confidence lately. Buyer beware, wait for reviews.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Agreed on both counts.

Interesting story... 6 months before A:CM was released I remember having a good discussion about the game with the GM of my local Gamestop. Which sounds odd, but I am willing to talk with him because he is a gamer and I learned from other talks that we have similar tastes. We're both over 40 and big Alien film fans, too, so it was perfect conversation to have.

He was fired up about the game, and I expressed concern over their release date bump. He referenced the original Bioshock and a few other games that benefited from a release push back. I referenced Duke Nukem. And Duke Nukem.

He was excited.

I wasn't excited. I wasn't sold, either. I waited for the reviews to come out, saw things I didn't like, and held off. Then I bought the game a few months later for roughly $20. I mostly actually enjoyed it for the few nights I played it. Especially because I set my expectations appropriately.

It was worth 20 bucks. I would have felt ripped off if I had paid 60 bucks.

I'll set my expectations right on this one, too. Research...

You'd think after Colonial Marines they'd learn their lesson. Or perhaps that is the lesson. Cheating people out of their money works...

If the game turns out fine, then okay, crisis averted. If it's bad, then its basically a waste of money by those who preordered it.

I wasn't defending pre-orders in any way. In fact, as long as we're going there, I rarely ever do pre-orders. 2 in the last 12 months, in fact. Both were done 2 days before release to get a $10 gift card from Best Buy.

I did good to my personal finance community that day. So piss off.

Increase in pre-orders = increase in reviews not available until release day = lots of unhappy customers.

Not necessarily from this game, just in general. Once upon a time a game had early reviews and you decided then whether to buy it or not, now they sweeten you with this kind of garbage to get your money without you knowing how good the game is. Weak.

Avatar image for spikepigeo

<< LINK REMOVED >> Precisely. I don't get why people don't understand this. They just accept pre-orders as industry standard now, rather than insurance for a potentially bad game. If the devs had faith in their product, they wouldn't need pre-orders.

I guess we have no choice when the company won't just sell us the whole damn game, straight up. Sad times.

Avatar image for amaneuvering

Yeah, so the guys who pre-order get the content immediately and for free, then everyone else can purchase it as downloadable content at a later date. Seems like a reasonable enough way to handle pre-order bonuses.

Avatar image for Sl4cka

<< LINK REMOVED >> Buying it later and paying extra for the DLC will still be cheaper than preordering.

Avatar image for meatz666

<< LINK REMOVED >> Difference is, if I buy it later, a know if the game is good. Enticing people to pre-order something they never played or seen in action is a bad practice. Remember Watch Dogs E3 trailer, and the final product.

Nice for all involved... Almost!

Sigorney Weaver gets to act like Ripley again, while Tom Skerritt gets to WORK again.

Shame they have to make this as part of a "Post Pre-Order," which I don't like one bit! After Colonial Marines, Sega deserve a good slap holding this as a pre order.

I know that it is Creative Assembly that made this one but Sega are still the ones that own this franchise, and look at what crap Rome Total War 2 was and that was made by C.A., published by SEGA.

This pre-order , that you do not get until well after release is a joke!

Yet again SEGA learn nothing from their mistakes, they know damn well in order to get the Pre-Orders up, they promise this thing, (that feeds on our nostalgia) that should be in the game already, not some BS DLC!! At this point I feel like a broken record saying this, but it needs saying.

People who defend this crap are morons themselves... You are buying a promise of content, who knows when you will get it or if the game you Pre-Order will be any good.

This sh*te has got to stop!

Avatar image for Carpetfluff

@punksterdaddy Wow. Talk about totally misunderstanding a statement. Both will be available at launch if you pre-order. They're not making you wait. All this is saying is that people who don't get it as a pre-order will be able to buy it later on. Comprehension fail on your part.

Fair enough. I misunderstood it. Doesn't change my feelings on Pre-Orders, which is what my rant was about.

People are getting bent out of shape, why because that is a cool and it's a stupid incentive to pre-order. Releasing it later as DLC is d*ck move, no matter how you spin it!

Comprehension Fail for your part also... IT SHOULD BE IN THE GAME!

I'm pretty sure anyone with any sense knew these would be available to buy later. I'm also not sure why so many people are getting bent out of shape by this dlc which is clearly 'outside' the main game, and while they'll probably be cool additions, they're not a part of what you were expecting to play anyway.

<< LINK REMOVED >> For what purpose? In relation to the film the only thing he really did that might translate into the game is when they were searching the derelict. We all know how that goes. the only reason I can think of would be to let the player walk around inside the derelict, but there wouldnt be any real need as it could really only play out as a corridor game with no enemies.

Unless you have an idea?
