A stunning new poster for the upcoming horror sci-fi sequel Alien: Covenant has been released. The poster is very reminiscent of the work of legendary artist HR Giger, the original designer of the franchise's iconic creature. Check it out below:

Alien: Covenant is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, and Demian Bichir. An intense new trailer was released last month, which followed this special prologue. There was also another creepy new poster for the movie.

Even though the film is still two months from release, Scott has revealed that the name of the next movie in the series will be Alien: Awakening.

Scott suggested that Awakening might actually sit chronologically between 2012's Prometheus and Covenant. "There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien," he said. "It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant. There will be more after this. If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more."

This follows Scott's earlier comments that he was keen to get going on the next movie. "You've got to assume, to a certain extent, success [for Alien: Covenant], and from that you'd better be ready," he said. "You don't want a two-year gap. So I'll be ready to go again next year."

Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters on May 19 in the US and May 12 in the UK.
